Re: 64 Plymouth Belvedere post car

Marc Sheridan drilled the new hangers perfectly and it all seems bang on with the rear hangers hanging straight Just a tip as you may not have this issue but ideally you need the rear shackles to be angled rearward. There's a lot of inherent rise using caltracs, too much and you'll top out the spri...

Re: 64 Plymouth Belvedere post car

Looks fantastic Pete. I made some door cards for the van out of some hardboard and some sparkly purple vinyl, should be easy enough to get some red :D

Re: 318 .. 360 Engine ?

Nice job, the '68 Barracuda we have has run a 13.88 @ 99 and some change with a 3.23 gear (0.030 over 318), It barely gets into 3rd gear at the strip. I've had the speedo off the end of the 120mph scale a few times. Car feels wayyy light at the front end at those speeds. :D

Re: 318 .. 360 Engine ?

The 360 uses a different sump 273/318/340 sumps do not interchange with the 360. 318 / 360 magnums do. If you buy a kit, get it with everything balanced, some even come with bearings. 318 heads are wheezy, even on a 318, you'd have to work them (ported / bigger valves) or get aftermarket to get your...

Re: 318 .. 360 Engine ?

You can stroke the 318 to 390 ( 0.030" over, 3.94" x 4" = 6.4L ) plenty of kit's out there. It's reputed that you can bore the early 318 blocks (67 / 68) .100" over but I'd be sonic testing the bores before committing

Re: 74 Challenger NLK900V

A Vid from this years first fire up. Don't worry about the smoke, the exhausts had some oil in from 2022's piston failure and I squirted some oil in the bores for winter, it soon cleared up. I don't know if it's psychological but the exhaust note seems to have a bit more of an "edge" to it...

Re: 440 Engine build for friend

Good point. I've never run a hydraulic roller cam and it can happen. I'd be checking to make sure.

Re: 440 Engine build for friend

While the engine is out I'd be deglazing the bores, re-ringing and fitting new bearings (if that's all it needs). You might run in to issue's with pushrod clearance on the block and heads, you will need to assemble and check. You could be OK given that it's only 1/2" lift and if you stick to 1....

Re: What am I looking at?

I was just surprised at the amount of parts that will change over from poly to L/A (and vice versa), I was always under the impression that virtually nothing did :read2:

Re: What am I looking at?

I recently heard that L/A heads will bolt onto the poly block and the poly block can go .100" over with no issues. The poly engines are heavy due to the size of the heads and cast iron intakes etc, the blocks alone are reputed to be only slightly heavier the the L/A blocks. Cranks and rods are ...

Re: New records in F.A.S.T

Pretty sure they use some sort of traction control / slew rate timing by monitoring the D/S rpm, any spike in the curve indicates wheelspin so the ign unit is programmed to reduce timing at that point. They likely also retard the timing @ launch too, easy to do with the digital ign systems available...

Ended up 9.10 @ 148. 1000+ hp with stock manifolds, 2 1/2" exhaust and an 850 carb, incredible ! :D

Re: 440 street recipes

There are many combinations of parts that will get you where you want to be. If you are not doing this yourself, speak to an engine builder like Dave Billadeaux, he's built loads and usually has pistons, rings, bearings and performance stuff in stock, if not he get's stuff in regularly. Not wanting ...
