Re: 1983 LeBaron bushes - easy to fit?

Hi Dave,

Many thanks for all the info - appreciate the time you've taken 💪

Yes, my LeBaron is a FWD 'K-body'. I understand it was the first FWD car that Chrysler had produced. I read that initially they didn't have an engine for it so used the 2.6 Astron engine used in the Mitsubishi Starion and ...

Just to document, for posterity, the history of this LeBaron since I bought it in Feb 2025.

Re: fastest Rockauto ever?

Yes - the Russian steel thing prevented me getting Deplhi all-rubber swaybar bushes.

Apparently the hack is to contact the manufacturer and get them to email RockAuto with confirmation that their parts don't contain Russian steel.

And RockAuto hasn't been very good at recording that declaration ...

Re: Chrysler mechanic in Kent

Haha yes - Terry at A1 Chrysler had to use brute force and heat to get the metal sleeves out.

I've ordered some NOS bolts from the US as he said the old ones were okayish but ideally needed replacing, for peace of mind.

Also managed to locate some NOS Mopar-branded anti-roll bar/sway bar bushes ...

Chrysler mechanic in Kent

Just had a great experience with an independent Chrysler mechanic in Higham - Kent. I needed someone brave enough to tackle replacement of strut rod bush kit and control arm bushes on my 1983 Chrysler LeBaron. Not many mechanics want to know in case the job goes wrong...

Terry is lovely fella and ...

1983 LeBaron bushes - easy to fit?

Hi.

Has anyone fitted these type of swaybar and control arm bushes on a K-body car? Are there any hints/tips?

The car was diagnosed by a respected local American car specialist however they're very popular with long wait times. Just wondering if a decent traditional mechanic can fit them without ...

North Hants tyres - mail order whitewalls

Hi,

Apologies this might be old news as I'm a newbie here.

I got my Galaxy whitewall tyres from here:

https://northhantstyres.com/collections/tyresj

Quickly delivery and the tyres feel ok - obviously I'm not hating up and down motorways on them. The ones I got actually have M + S on them which ...

Re: Official letter from a Mopar club for DVLA?

Hi Stu,

Ah that's great - thank you, I'll send Matt a PM.

Yes - well spotted! This was the model of car in Planes, Trains & Automobiles. For the movie they added a new front grille as I understand that Chrysler/Dodge didn't want their car featured recognisably.

It's the K-body platform with ...

Official letter from a Mopar club for DVLA?

Hi,

My 1983 Chrysler LeBaron was incorrectly registered as 'green/brown' when it was imported from the US into Liverpool in 2020. The VIN/body plate has the paint code as BT8 which is Dark Sable Brown/Sable Brown. Can only assume the person made a mistake...

I wrote to DVLA to get this changed ...

Welcome to the Club.

When you have a moment, take a look at our Facebook page!

All the best, Pete.

Thanks Pete - will do :) The Allpar forum (based in the US) has been really helpful with part numbers and practical advice, but I'm pleased to have found Mopar fans in the UK. I've been feeling ...

Re: New member - Chrysler LeBaron Convertible

Forgot to add - the engine is the Mitsubishi 2.6 that Chrysler needed for the front-wheel drive K-body platform. It's the engine that in the UK was in the Galant and Starion, and some fork-lift trucks apparently. :)

Re: New member - Chrysler LeBaron Convertible

Hi Steve,

It's had a lot of work - my goal is to get it into daily driver territory during the summer. Bit more to do yet. And the goal will be to fix any rust bubbles and get it into good shape for a long life.

The roof has a few holes so they need repairing for now - with a view for a new roof ...

Re: American Speedfest 2026

Hi Derek.

Is this open to non-muscle cars? I have a 1983 Chrysler LeBaron Convertible. It's not concours and couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding, but Brands Hatch is quite near to me!

I could aim to get my car roadworthy by then (although some bits might be a bit tatty as it's a rolling ...

New member - Chrysler LeBaron Convertible

Hi all,

Just joined and wanted to say Hi!

I've got a 1983 LeBaron that I'm slowly getting properly sorted - for daily driving once summer arrives...and once the steering/suspension is sorted :working:

Here's a pic taken end of last summer.

Be interested if anyone has seen this car on here ...
