Re: Ballast resistor query

Thanks Dave, As usual, an informative and educational reply. My car was originally using a points coil set up when I bought it with the 1.12 ohm ballast resistor. When it was changed to electronic ignition, I don’t think the ballast was changed as well ( as far as I remember ), must admit I didn’t k...

Ballast resistor query

Hi all, One of my heater hoses going into the firewall recently split soaking the ballast resistor in antifreeze / coolant. After replacing the hose and starting it again, the ballast resistor started smoking. It looked like this when I took it off 41F4C401-CC6E-441C-87E6-33DAA12E598A.jpeg BB4F7329-...

Re: OIL COOLER LINES

Thanks Blue,
I already have the replacement pipes, just wanted to make sure it was ok to connect them the opposite way to what they are now. It is the stock radiator cooler I’m using.
Thanks for your help

Re: OIL COOLER LINES

Hi all, I need to replace my transmission cooler lines as well, I already have the new lines but the one that needs replacing is too short. Or, it at least looks to be too short. After checking in the manual my original lines look like they’re connected the wrong way round. According to the manual, ...

Re: They say it’s good to talk........

Thanks Steve, I think I’m doing better today than this time last year, also discovered that when you’re on your own, there’s never enough time in the day. Everything takes 2 or 3 times as long as you thought it would, but then of course there’s no one to say you can’t do that now, and you can have c...

Re: They say it’s good to talk........

Thanks everyone for the positive comments, and for agreeing to have a look at my YouTube channel. Time doesn’t really heal anything at all, but it does give the ability of learning to live with it and how to work around it, which is hopefully what I’m doing. Milesnmiles - was good to catch up with y...

They say it’s good to talk........

Hi All, At least that’s what they always say on TV, so, I thought I’d give it a go...... Some of you already know that a little over 3yrs ago my wife left me, initially I put my charger up for sale due to having no job at the time. A lot of you messaged me and commented on the advert, advising me ag...

Re: Transmission Cooling

Thanks guys, all valuable info. While I will be using it for some track time, it’s in no way going to be enough to warrant upgrading to an external cooler by the sounds of it. As I’m upgrading and replacing some things as they wear out, I was wondering if it was an idea to add a cooler or not. The n...

Re: Transmission Cooling

Thanks Mark,
Is it possible to overcool the trans, if the cooler is too big?
My application is for a 383 and 727, neither are modified in any way

Transmission Cooling

Is anyone using an external transmission cooler instead of the engine radiator?
Do they work well
Do they connect to the original cooling pipes, or do they connect to the gearbox
Will a fleabay purchase be ok or does it need to be a specific one
What size would I need

TIA

Re: Air con and fan belt query

Thanks Blue, From my measurements it seems that if I move the alternator forwards by 2.5 inches, one belt will line up with the waterpump, crank and alternator. I’ll have a look at Mancini’s though and see what they’ve got. Miles, thanks. I don’t have power steering any longer, small blocks might be...

Re: Air con and fan belt query

Thanks Dave,
I’ll start getting the pulleys sorted. Love the tip for the hose spring, I’ll do that too.
Thanks again
