Re: Floyd Brothers 70 Challenger

Can still be done, you just have to build up a bit of weld before you drop the nut on. The trouble with drilling it out is unless you can get the broken bit out, you'll be lucky to re tap it square. Cheers Blue, I’ll give it a go before I drill out. :thumbright: Sod’s Law that a simple carb swap sh...

Re: Floyd Brothers 70 Challenger

I think, on closer inspection, where the coaters have masked it off, they’ve not quite got it right and the bottom of the stud has been coated in. Tried everything to get it out, but ended up slipping and taking a nip out of the manifold as well. Been a frustrating morning. Not sure me, a welder and...

:D Yes, it’s a bit blingier than my usual taste, but it’s what they come in!

Can’t wait to get some track miles on it now!

Re: Floyd Brothers 70 Challenger

Yes, it will need both studs on the passenger side swapping and 2 different height spacers, as the base plate is stepped, so that’s next on the list this week.

Re: Floyd Brothers 70 Challenger

Couple of minor issues to sort, had a bit of a game swapping some of the fittings and managed to shear the throttle cable ball. #-o Thankfully, a quick trip to Jim at Jim’s Autos this morning as he had a spare he was good enough to let me have. Had to re drill the cable / spring bracket as the base ...

Re: Floyd Brothers 70 Challenger

Anyway, on return, the aforementioned carb finally shat itself all over the newly coated manifold, so enough Bananarama! about, new one ordered. Thanks as ever to Chris Goodale, today’s job is to replace it with this little beauty. :thumbright:

Re: Floyd Brothers 70 Challenger

Massive props to Blue and Pete, Challenger is now back home. Few niggles to sort out, but having got it so far by myself, it’s now a very different car since the Pros got hold of it. Can’t thank them enough for their help and catapulting this forwards. Few issues with a Heath Robinson carb, made out...
