Re: Dave's 72 Dart
As you can see in the above pics, some cleaning to do with the dremel, especially around the valley. One of my big decisions over the last 4 months was what to do regards parts selection. I know I want 400HP and over 400ft lbs TQ, but many ways in which to get that. Ideally want low 12s in the 1/4 b...

Re: Dave's 72 Dart
Well its been slow progress on the motor due to various factors. But, this week we have been able to open up the 318 so we can have a look and see what the internals look like. Great news its in good condition for a 75 block and is on standard bore. So I can now start ordering parts. :woohoo: Well.....

Re: Thinking of selling...need some advice
If its priced sensibly it will sell, but I think the next 12 months is going to be difficult for a lot of people. Toys and weekend fun cars may possibly be making way to keep the more important things financed, so the pool of buyers will be smaller than a year ago. I'd think its worth 12 to 15k in t...

Re: Big Red and Loud
I thought he had cut it up and scrapped it. dubious reasons given. Dave I'm sure i remember seeing photos of it in pieces at the time. Caused a bit of an uproar from memory due to its history. I'm sure it was an over reaction at the time, but it was his car. Also remember parts being sold like the ...

Congrats on the new arrival mate.
Bike just blows my mind with the detail and independent engineering being put into it.

Re: Floyd Brothers 70 Challenger
Hey Stu, If the regulator is working it shouldn't be charging above circa 14.8V. I had the same issue on the Dart early days and it melted the wax from under the ECI module. You can still see the runs down the inner wing. I found a load of dodgy crimps in the wire from the alternator to the bulkhead...

Re: Comp ratio and a query.....
Hey Dave, just realised that doing what I'm proposing will screw the Quench and give me 0.090". They suggest less than 0.060 is required with 0.040 being a sweet spot.

Re: Comp ratio and a query.....
Yeah, I'll be looking into that next. Hughes got back to me and said the only option is to work the heads for more combustion chamber, circa 3 to 4 cc to get the comp down into the 10s. Not doing that and finding somebody to work the heads will be an issue. Next alternative is a cometic head gasket ...

Re: Comp ratio and a query.....
Thanks Dave, I've asked Hughes the question over Cam choice for the rotating assembly I currently have. The cam available gives me 11.45:1 with a DCR of 9.55:1. Need to look at how little I can shave the head rather than have it 0 decked. If I can cut it so the pistons are 0.04" in the hole the...
