Kick down setting 68 Charger

Hi all I have the Lokar kickdown Kit fitted to my charger (not by me) I had the carb and linkage off and want to ensure it is set correctly. Reading various quotes on the web and the Lokar instructions it says, have the carb at WOT and pull the kickdown cable to max and lock off, this apparently set...

Re: What did you do to your Mopar today?

Fitted a new set of Magnum 500 wheels with BFG tyres and fitted a new Dakota Digital dash, first time I have ever had an accurate fuel gauge on a classic

Re: 68 Charger steering box rebuild

We did get our original power steering box rebuilt over here a few years ago. They did a good job EXCEPT for fitting the wrong o-ring on the top 'cover' (not sure of the correct terminology), underneath the adjusting screw, so we had a leak almost from day one. Anton came to the rescue with the cor...

68 Charger steering box rebuild

Hi All My standard equipment power steering box is a little sloppy and leaking from the bottom seal on the box itself. It it worth having it rebuilt, if so is there anywhere in the Uk ? I read about upgrades with better gearing etc. Can I buy these boxes in the UK, if so where from ? Getting a littl...

68 Charger 440 which Engine Oil

Hi All First oil change in my ownership, what do you guys recommend, used the Halfords classic in the past for my classics, is there something better? Been looking at the Castrol XL 20W-50. The engine is not standard but no paperwork to indicate what mods have taken place. It does have Edlebrock hea...

Re: 68 Charger Gearing

Great 3.55 is a little more in favour of acceleration rather than having low rpm on the highway. 3.23 would bring the revs down around 10% and is a good all-round ratio IMHO you might even like 2.76 if comfort's your thing, given also that your tyre diameter is probably a little smaller than many p...

Re: 68 Charger Gearing

If your LSD is working OK then you only need to rotate one wheel, as the other wheel is clutched to it and will automatically rotate in the same direction at the same speed. As a very basic check that the LSD is working, just jack one wheel off the ground (handbrake off, gearbox in neutral). You sh...

Re: 68 Charger Gearing

Your car could have left the factory with anything from 2.76 to a 4.10 rear end gears , depending on its original spec. That's a huge difference in rpm per mph As a starter you should probably measure the ratio you have, as a point of reference for any action. Jack up one rear wheel and rotate it b...

Re: 68 Charger Gearing

Hi Pete & Shayne The Tach is an integral part of a Dekota digital dash I purchased and fitted from Classic Industries, so I would hopefully expect that to be accurate. Yes I have checked against a Sat Nav I had in the car at the time and my speedo is within 1 MPH at 70 MPH although it does seem ...

68 Charger Gearing

Hi all I now finally have a working Tach. I have had the car some 6 months and have only been out a few times. I always suspected the revs seemed a bit high in relation to the actual speed. Went out yesterday for the first time with a working Tach, I am getting 2500 rpm at 60 mph and 3100 at 70 mph....

Re: 68 Charger 440 R/T Tach wiring

Hi Dave Yes, there is a button to press which has to be mounted somewhere accessible and as you say lots of pressing to reach the programme you require. Thank you very much for your time and effort, I will take a look at page 7 again. Will let you know how I get on, This weekends project. Regards Rog

Re: 68 Charger 440 R/T Tach wiring

Hi Dave Yes that is the very one, so on page 5 it shows a coil as I have, with a solid black line going to it from the TACH position on the control box plus an extended black dotted line going to an ECU/ECM Ignition Box (TACH OUTPUT). As I do not have the ECU,does this then mean I am ok to run a new...
