Sorry to bring this question back up but I kept using the car through last year and we only took this apart yesterday for a look. What I have as Duncan said earlier is a screw in housing(1'' hex with a tapered length heading inwards) with the plastic drive gear sitting in it. My problem is that the ...

OK Guys - I'll dig these out and get my technology expert to scan them. Does anyone know who has the car now?

To whom it may concern. I have photos of 70 Cuda LMB78L taken in 1972 in original and my custom paint scheme - if you are interested let me know. Keith Baker

Thanks Duncan. What is happening is that the drive gear seems to float in and out so that it doesn't engage the speedo cable. I wondered if there was a drive gear and then a short shaft and that the shaft may be missing. From what you say it seems there is just a plastic drive gear and the cable att...

Yes it's got the drum brake. It's a 58 box. The speedo drive is different to a later torqueflite. There are 2 versions. The one with a clamp on speedo cable has a drive gear clipped to the cable end. Mine is the screw on type and is different internally. I'm guessing that there is a drive gear run f...

Iron torqueflite speedo.
Help! Looking for some guidance on an iron torqueflite on which I'm trying to get the speedo working. From outside the box it would appear that the speedo drive gear is just floating back and forth internally. Obviously something in there must be missing but I am not sure what. There are two version...

Jim, you're kind of right. We chatted at the Harrow Monday night sessions back in the seventies. I also had Harleys. Am a close friend of big George and have been with him and chatted to you on various occasions over the years but I am not a memorable person! Was heavily involved with the Tri Chevy ...

First I have to apologise as I'm writing this on my mate's log in...probably against the rules. I used to own the red Road Runner. I have watched this thread since it started, waiting for a reg number just in case it was that car! The car was factory orange. I was the first registered owner in the U...
