Re: Del's American car day at Brooklands

Brilliant day Del,
Thanks to you and your family for all your hard work keeping things organised, it’s much appreciated. Glorious weather and a great turnout, it was good to catch up with everyone.
Martin.

Re: Knebworth Classic Motor Show

Thanks for posting Rob. I do like a Vauxhall Firenza, reminds me of a misspent youth. Try finding one nowadays. I think the Droop Snoots survived better than the normal Firenza’s and Magnum coupes. Mind you, I did for a couple myself !

Re: Hemi Cuda convertibles

Found a few pictures. A much younger me sat outside Kalmar airport. Pete and I were waiting to be picked up and I remember how quiet and unpopulated Sweden seemed compared to the UK. The next picture is Tomas and his brother with Pete standing by the 71 Charger, that was a serious car, genuine Hemi ...

Re: Hemi Cuda convertibles

Brilliant, thanks Adam. I thought if anyone had any photos of the Challenger it would be you ! The Hemi Roadrunner was almost certainly the one Jim Wilson brought over in the mid eighties. That car is still in the UK and I believe now owned by the Billadeau’s. Thanks for the comments everyone.

Re: Hemi Cuda convertibles

Here is another 1970 Hemi Challenger Convertible JS27ROB171715 in FC7 Plum Crazy. These photos were taken in Pete Jordan’s back garden. Pete had heard about the car in Sweden and that it was possibly for sale so after a few phone calls with Tomas the owner, who fortunately spoke good English we flew...

Re: Hemi Cuda convertibles

Here’s another one albeit a Hemi Challenger Convertible this time. Pete and I travelled to Elmer in New Jersey to see the car, it was owned by Walt Downer who ran a small Chrysler dealership which had been in his family since 1921. The Challenger was an export car sold new in Canada, one of three th...

Re: Hemi Cuda convertibles

Hi Rob Yes he is quite an authority on the Max Wedge cars. We spent some time with Darrell and he had some fascinating stories to tell. He literally started working at a Chrysler dealership as a young man and over the years worked his way to the very top. What I do remember was he always had a large...

Re: Hemi Cuda convertibles

This picture was taken in 1998 outside the old RPM workshop in Aldershot. This particular 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda convertible is very highly optioned and originally built for John Herlitz who was a stylist for the Chrysler corporation and responsible for styling the 1970 Barracuda, effectively it was...

Re: Hemi Cuda convertibles

Another photo of the French Cuda. Of the three 71 Hemi Cuda convertibles that were sold new in France two survived, this car and the Winchester grey car. The third car was destroyed by fire possibly in the late seventies, early eighties and the remains ended up in a French scrap yard. I believe that...

Re: Hemi Cuda convertibles

Thanks for the replies, looking back it was amazing how much stuff Pete and I got up to back in the nineties. The old RPM workshop was always a bit of an open house with Pete out front and me down the back putting something together. In answer to your question Stu, both car’s belonged to Carlos Mont...

Hemi Cuda convertibles

Looking through some old photos I came across this one taken at the old RPM workshop in Aldershot probably around 1998. The red car is the first 1970 Hemi Cuda convertible built and was used as the press car, tested by a couple of magazines back in the day.The white 1971 car was the last Hemi Cuda c...

Re: Thermostat question

Following on from what Pete said I would be very wary of aftermarket high flow/ race thermostats. Generally Chinese made and pretty much guaranteed to stick shut. Best to run a standard good quality thermostat, I usually drill a small hole in the outer edge of the stat to allow any air to bleed out ...

Re: Canada Trip

Just a quick update on progress with the Day Two Hemi Cuda.As you can see the motor is back where it belongs after many years separated from the car. Things are moving on quickly now, with the dash reinstalled and the front and rear glass fitted. Next up is the exhaust system. More pictures to follo...
