All 440 blocks have problems.
Best advice, buy a new one.
My mate Jimbo told me that!
Very wise chap indeed!!!

Sorry Will... The 440 block didn't pass the grade for your MoToR! What shall we do now? ''Get another block and start again'', he says... That's easy for you to say, but very costly and time wasting for me! Yeah right, I've been done this road before. Buy several engines outta my own pocket and when...

Wills blower MoToR. I told him several times that I do not have any suitable parts for a blower build. I will have to find all the pieces here in the UK and mainly in California, where blower motors are plentiful... Firstly I purchase a 440 bare block from a good friend and take it to Eve's-Engines ...

Will's 'Blower motor'. A very nice chap called Will asked me to throw together a cheap 'blower motor. As a seasoned engine builder, I said, ''IT CAN'T BE DONE''. Yes sure it can, I've read all the magazine articles on how you can put 'BLOWERS' on Junkyard motors and run TENS!!! If these guys put blo...

Engine building and its PITFALLS!
Hi Mopar Folks. Some of you know me and some of you don't. I have been building engines since I was at school. For over 30 years I have been building Mopar engines. Mainly as a hobby in between being a Mortgage paying Engineer. Then about 15 years ago I was given the chance to work in a custom V8 En...

From one fellow Charger owner to another. Will its so sad that all my hard work and yours has hit a 'bump in the road'! You are understandably upset and so am I. If you think I would fit shoddy and sub standard parts in your engine or ANY engine, you sure don't know me at all... I Will start a threa...

Camshaft failures!
Hi MOPAR FOLKS, As we all know the new engine oils DO NOT protect V8 flat tappet cams! Gibbs is the only oil that has the Zinc content to protect YOUR camshaft!!! Everyone else is wearing their cams out at an alarming RATE. The next problem is that cams fail on START-UP! If a lifter fails to rotate ...

Hi Will, Sorry the engine didn't work out for you. As I told you from the start. I have NO suitable block and no specialist parts for a BLOWER engine. You managed to get Mas to sell you his specially prepped 440 block, fitted with Aluminum KB HEMI maincaps. He had over a £1000 invested in that, half...

Hi James, Busted rings happen to the best of us! Sometimes you get lucky and there is an extra one in the pack. Check your old rings and you may get LUCKY? One of them may still be within tolerance... Put them square in the bore and feeler gauge the gaps, 16 to 20 thou is fine. If your running NITRO...

Thats it Miles! NEW Cast STEEL Cranks are INTERNAL Balance! Original 340 cast cranks are external with a special DAMPER and CONVERTER too. They are in fact 318 HD cast-cranks that are too light for 340 rods and pistons. Therefore a special set up was needed, not unlike the 70-71 SP 440 engine. Clear...

Hi Miles first, The 340 crank in your engine is aftermarket cast steel, not a cast Mopar crankshaft, I believe! You need to speak to Jon Connolly as he has the spec sheet when he bought the kit, in NEW from the USA. It was a pre-balanced kit and NEUTRAL BALANCE, NO CUT-OUTS on Flexplate!!! Not to be...
