Re: Floyd Brothers 70 Challenger

get one of these (most factors have them)

very handy for testing and putting feeds to various units to test they work. (you still have to be fairly cautious as some units don't like 12volts)

there are plenty of videos on youtube like this

Re: 1966 Barracuda X's 2

Had a rethink on the heater and i'm going to modify what was originally fitted. A couple of Choke type cables to operate some flaps and leave the vacuum button system in the dash. all the vacuum hose attachments were broken anyway but i did get all the buttons moving (first time i pushed a button th...

Re: 1966 Barracuda X's 2

Agreed it should make using this car a different experience from when i drove it 300 miles home. i found one of the front end rattles. Anti-roll bar K frame bracket bolts not tight. Ah well, job for another day. (will be completely stripping the suspension anyway.) but for now the driver's side rear...

Re: 1966 Barracuda X's 2

doesn't float my boat i'm afraid. i prefer this img-0993-1536755874.jpg finally got the passenger rear window sorted. Took hours because it wouldn't go up the last half inch without force. Eventually traced it to the winder mechanism bent, probably due to excess force over the years, so a few strate...

Re: 1966 Barracuda X's 2

since the passenger door now fits better i removed the door card to wax the internals. DSCF6866.JPG tons of leaves in the bottom and no door membranes. Going to have to redo the door cards as they are now warped. Lubed the winder mechanism, pinched the drop glass guide so no more free-play and drown...

Re: 1966 Barracuda X's 2

thought i'd have a look at the boot hinges. Boot didn't sit right and one hinge had loads of play. Removed the hinge to find what looks like a nail as a pin. found some silver steel rod the correct size that i had kicking around and repaired it with a grub screw to hold it together. then i though i'...

Re: 1966 Barracuda X's 2

changed the last interior linkage bush for a rose joint ( i had one kicking around the right size and fitter over the linkage perfectly) The reason for this rather than make another tight fitting bush is that this one needs to articulate as the engine moves around. The lever has a much nicer action ...

Re: 1966 Barracuda X's 2

gear lever was loose and floppy with play side to side as well. machined new bushes from Delrin to a slight interference fit and copper washers to preload the side movement. zero play in the lever and a slight friction which makes it feel much nicer to operate. made a new connecting rod bush to be a...

Re: 1966 Barracuda X's 2

will be pulling the dash out soon to tidy, get rid of the defunct aircon and get everything working as it should. was interesting driving it in the dark with candles for headllights and no dash lights. anyway. there was this annoying clunk when accelerating and decelerating which turned out to be th...

Re: 1966 Barracuda X's 2

S800 running at idle ignore all the noises it's the bonnet rattling, it actually sound really sweet. still needs a full tune yet so no revving too much till that is sorted. warms up ok, charges fine and the fan cuts in and out as expected. in the mean time. why just have one Barracuda when you can ...

Re: No fuel to carb

problem with fuel pumps at the front is the drag of the fuel from the tank will lower the pressure slightly in the pipe and lower the fuel boiling point. Some additives in modern fuel boils at 30 degrees C. Modern cars run very high pressure systems with the pump in the tank to avoid this. It may ju...

Re: Waterless Coolant

going back to the oil heat issue we thought the oil cooler wasn't big enough. A much bigger cooler didn't make any difference. it was only when the waterless coolant was drained and went back to traditional antifreeze/water mix did the oil temps come right down thought i'd better mention it in case ...
