yep petrol will play a part ( my old Dodge with its stroker in) wouldn't run on anything else than shell high octane...
Its just a thought and this has come up before, are you sure its pinking and not headers blowing Derek...think weve all been there...

Well I had a really good day actually. I decided to take off my holley750 and fit the avenger770 carb that I got from mr.moopar (which is going on the daytona engine). Basically I wanted to see if my horrible smelling stinky problem followed the carb or the timing. Usual fun and games of everything...

Well I beg to differ I remember this engine and motor it was in Bob used to thrash the hell out of this engine ..
Better to leave the devil alone .. Maybe but what's the easiest access to dropping the sump off now or when it's in the car
