Re: coated steel bolts into alluminium

Hi Dave,
Not sure if I'm seeing this correctly but I would think that screws straight into ali would be fine. I'm thinking that motorcycle front brake discs are bolted straight onto the ali wheel hub with m8 screws and the shear force there must be astronomical compared to your application...

Re: MOT exemption

I asked my MOT guy about the changes and he said he would not do a 'safety check' because of the unknown possible legal issues, plus that the DVLA apparently clamp down on MOT stations that skirt their rules. This is why you no longer see 'Pre-MOT' tests advertised. The main issue must be whether yo...

Re: Fuel Return Line?

Hi Stuart. I would say do it. With a single line my 440 would regularly conk out in heavy traffic but fitting a new filter with a return outlet for vapour and a line back to the tank solved the issue. For some reason the previous 383 never had a problem...

Mopar vs Suzuki

Currently restoring a T500 and came across this old advert.
Not exactly a fair comparison, and there were no advertising standards then...
One point they missed - the T500 has a hemi ! (Two-stroke, so no valves to mess things up).

Re: Which breakdown/recovery company?

I just use the 'free' breakdown cover included with the car insurance.
Never had a problem with whichever local breakdown firm turns up.
Maybe consider switching to an insurer that includes it?
One less hassle to deal with.

Fashion shoot

The car was booked for a photo shoot for GQ magazine yesterday, and little is more important to MMA members than men's fashion so here's a sneak pic. Next time you buy some Gucci boots or those Prada jeans, just remember that the advert involved a model flown in from Austria, a crew of eight, a cate...

Another one here who trusts that the forum will continue. Facebook has its place for chat and noise but it doesn't serve the same role as this forum. I don't post much but log in most days and have found the technical content invaluable. The future of the magazine was discussed some time ago and whi...
