I know Blue. The only custom thing I ever did with a car kit was to put the chrome Mag 500s on a 57 Chevy Bel Air that came as part of a dress up kit in the box :thumbright:

Tyres spoil it but with some period white or redlines they would look fine. Much better original than all chromed up in my opinion. I just look at most aftermarket wheels that are not original and think of 20" chrome wheels on Bentleys in Kensington, just not right. Each to their own though I say

hemmings

Total '68 Formula S production was 5,196, with 2,857 Formula S 340 fastbacks, 867 hardtops, and 193 convertibles built.
Formula S 383 production reached 963 for fastbacks, 252 for hardtops, and just 64 for convertible.

not rare when compared to some aussie "mistakes" i.e 1 of 1cars that break the rules so far that the VIN and chassis number can't accomodate the options and trim combination. or were development test mules that failed to be destroyed and ended up on a dealers lot

steve harrisons RT that was a true 1 of 1 "can't be explained" example only existed due to production line confusion and interesting interpretation of the order.

VG ute with 340 engine 833 4 speed, formula s supension, 4 pot kelsey brakes, built on short charger floor pan rather than dart..... thats rare.

and so is a standard familiy wagon with a factory fitted six pack race engine.... only one of them as well

depends on yer defenition of rare and how desireable the car is i guess, the ones i have illustrated would have no appeal in the US

As Dave rightly points out, rarity and desirability are not the same thing.
I am all too aware of this owning Aussie cars!

The rarest of US Chargers is probably a six cylinder but has anyone ever seen one?
Also if you did find one, I bet first thought would be to V8 it.

So this Barracuda is rare, with 64 made, but I believe Tony O's green notchback is rarer, as it is one of one, RHD slant six.

There was a '68 charger in the club some years ago that was 318 3 on the tree, I believe that was 1of 1. Zero desirability though, unfortunately Tony's notch fell into that category as well. Out of 64 Formula S convertibles built in '67, 4 speeds will account for less than half of those and combined with other options you could be talking production in single figures.

My A12 Roadrunner was a "one of one".

It depends how far you go down the "options" list to define exclusivity..

That car was stunning Pete. What made it so unique on the option list?

There is a number of aspects to rarity for owners
As Pete had 1of 1 car.
great because it is a 1of1 but do you have a rare car because it’s rare and no other reason because personally I would not want that car with no power ancillaries must have been a pig to drive here , no offence Pete
Do u have a rare car that is not particularly good looking or condition
again why have it if you don’t necessarily like the aesthetics but it is rare so someone has it and pays a good price but you could have 2 nice cars for the same price
Reasons must endless
Nout stranger than folk as they say

Personally I love the bare bones cars, its what I've always built. My favourite Hemi 'Cuda has virtually no options at all from the factory, if I was in the market for such a car, that's what I'd be looking for.

My Valiant was one of 50 being V8 and four speed but even if it had been one of one it wouldn’t have added a penny to its value as Valiants are probably the least desirable Mopar. I’m probably the only one that specifically wanted one!
