73 Duster 408

Post by kev73dart » Tue Jul 09, 19 6:11 pm

It is with a heavy heart (and an empty head!) that I am thinking about selling my Duster.
I have had it since 2013, and it has gone through a few changes in that time.
It now has a very stout 408 Stroker built by Mr Billadeau himself
Body and underside are rock solid and no sign of rust anywhere (it came from Chico, California)
There are dents on every panel but I kind of warmed to them and they are part of it's character.
There are no signs of welding either, no patch panels anywhere
Here are the full specs:
Engine Spec (Built by Dave Billadeau)
• 360 Block re-bored to 4.030”
• Comp Cams 20-232-4 Performance cam
• Mahl Rings
• Diamond Flat Top Pistons
• Scat 408 Crank
• Childs & Albert Con Rods I-Beams
• Mopar Performance Heads
• Mancini Racing Stainless Valve Set 1.60” Exhaust / 2.02 Intake
• Pro Sport Performance Damper
• Mopar Windage Tray
• Compression Ratio 10.3:1
• Dynoed @ 416 hp and 482 Ft Lb Torque
• Balanced Rotating Assembly
• Holley 750 Vac Secondaries Carb

Other Spec:
• 727 Transmission with full check over and filter and fluid change
• B&M Tork Master 2000 rpm stall Torque Converter (New)
• Lokar Kick Down and Throttle Cables
• B&M Star Shifter floor shifter with ratchet mechanism for racing
• B&M Heavy Duty Shifter cable
• Mini Race starter motor (new)
• TTI Headers (very expensive but the best)
• Full Stainless Exhaust by Nouvalari (guaranteed for the life of the vehicle) New (does have chambered race mufflers on it at the moment, can easily put the stainless ones back on)
• Transmission Cooler
• Holley 750 Vacuum Secondary carburettor (New)
• K&N Air Filter
• Holley Red Top electric fuel pump
• New larger fuel lines (needed!)
• New Water Pump
• New Halogen Headlights
• Rear lights rewired so that the old Reverse light are now Indicators
• Refurbished Rear Lights
• Cragar V5 Steel wheels, 10 x 15 rear with 295 50 15 tyres and 8 x 15 front and I can’t remember the size!
• Car has been waxoyled from the rear bumper to the front wings, just the front that we haven’t got round to yet.
• Zero rust on body and underside, and no signs of any welding
• Urethane bushes in all front suspension components.
• Mopar Competition Rear Leaf Springs (New)
• Rear seat and door cards re-trimmed in Black Vinyl, front is good.
• Grant steering wheel
• Bespoke Alloy Performance Radiator with Stant Performance cap (New)

I haven't got a clue what to advertise it for, I know I won't get back the money I've spent, but I'm going to say £15995
Weather permitting it will be at Dragstalgia this Sunday
Cheers
Kev

To be honest Matt, I don't know.
I love the Duster but I am just not enjoying it at the moment and I don't know why.
I think if I had the time and the money, I would love to keep it looking like it is, but with full modern running gear, kind of a pro touring style.
I realise I probably think it is worth more than people want to pay, and if I get no interest or offers, I may do something different.
I only ever wanted a cruiser but this engine wants to go, that 318 Satellite that has been for sale appeals, I love that shape as well.
I am not doing anything quickly, to give me time to think and try to start loving her again!

Thanks for asking
Cheers
Kev

Hi Kev.
I'm a bit cash strapped at the moment, but your car has always ticked the right boxes for me , as a forward progression in my world of Mopar.
Would be happy for a chat if you fancied a more door cruiser , and cash your way.
It would be with a heavy heart as its been a good car to me ,and I've loved having something different on the scene , but to be honest , perhaps a change would give me the kick up the backside to get me back out in a classic ?
Not 100% sure , but may be worth a chat ?

Hi .. if it,s not an insensitive question would you still have the alloy wheels that were previously on . I,m well on with the restoration of my 73 duster and liked the look and stance of them ( connected mag 82 )

Sorry Corky, they were sold a while back.
I liked the slot mags but wanted 10’s and couldn’t find any.
Thanks
