1967 Dodgy Coronet
Well, I seem to get a bit of stick for chopping and changing my cars over time, but life’s too short for one car. At every drag event I’ve been too I’ve always loved the mid sixties B body Mopar, pre ‘68 for me and I love the Super Stock signwritten cars.
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I took a chance on a barn/field find and a deal was done and the Dodge was delivered to me from Scotland. All the way to Newquay!
A welcome party was put together to help get the car down my very narrow drive and now it resides in my garage. A quick check on the stock motor showed a couple of missing core plugs and oil/water contamination, so I decided to pull it out. It’s now ready for the big heave ho.

that's cool, what engine are you fitting or will you rebuild/tune/stroker kit the original?

Hi Neil, I already have a mild 360 and a Blue built 904 for the motor, plus some uprated suspension parts to go in it. The brakes are all new and steering seems good, so it’s electrics and some bodywork tidying to come after the drivetrain transplant.

Looks a good project Miles and yes the 67 Coronet and Satellite do look nice.

Been very busy this week. Old motor ready to come out and new one just about ready to go in. Elsewhere I’ve fitted new heavy duty shox, scavenged up most of an exhaust system, albeit with axle dumps. Fitted a nice Canton oil filter plate and lots more fettling.
Motors should be swapped on Saturday all being well.

Big weekend with Mopar mates helping out. Old 318 motor removed and 360 dropped in. It was quite a faff as the motor brackets or the flex plate to convertor would keep snagging. Tried various angles for about 45 mins until I decided it was time to ditch the engine mounts.
That allowed me to bolt the motor to trans in less than 10 minutes and then came the tricky issue of rotating the motor a tad to get the mounts to line up. And guess what... straight in, all bolts went in smoothly
and my research whether early 318 LA mounts would fit a 360 worked a treat. Hot, sweaty September afternoon, but a successful one.
Next up is all ancillary parts, fit the Performer RPM manifold and get ready to start the motor up in a couple of weeks time. Or longer of the surf shows up

well done on the swap mate. just a thought, did you swap the convertor for an externally balanced one to match the 360? or a weighted flex plate? the 318 is internally balanced (like a 273 or 340) but the 360 is externally balanced and has a weight welded on the convertor. you can buy a flex plate that simulates the weight on the 360 convertor as an alternative. if you did one or the other great and ignore me. if not

I’ve been a bit lazy posting about the Dodge, but certainly not lazy working the car.
Since the last post I’ve had the motor running which was a huge relief and swapping a dizzy 180 degrees has its benefits.
I’ve now got all the pulleys erm..pulling in the right direction, a new battery fitted, some gauges, sorted most of the electrics, deduced that the wiper motor is munted.
Made up a nifty bracket to relocate the throttle bracket and fitted a RPM performer manifold and now also fitting an ali radiator as the original leaked.
I’ve now got two front Torq Thruts (Thanks, Justin), two rear 8 x 15s on the way ( a story in its own right..stock issues) at a budget friendly £270 delivered.
I’ve pulled out the front bench seat as I don’t like em and can’t afford to recover it, so it’ll get stored. Instead I’m fitting two leather recliners from another manufacturer and will post pics when I’m satisfied with them, but they do use existing factory floor fittings where possible.
Now registered with DVLA and new black n white plates obtained, so I’m getting there.
