Oooh, shiny! :)

Definitely be doing a mock up first, don’t want to end up down a rabbit hole and not have it on the road. :thumbright:

This is what I got from the company who supplied, when I asked what else was required :

“Assuming you already have separate turn signals you just need to connect up the new ones. Yellow wire is 12v, black is ground.

The only thing you may need is a new flasher relay (or 2 if you have hazard lights). If you have normal filament bulbs in the front turn signals, then the old 552 style relays should work fine, but it depends what's in your vehicle.” :study:

If you use that type of Scotchlok wiring "Connector" I will have to kill you for the common good, but you get the idea....

We had to use the resistors on the Yukon to get the trailer lights working, etc....

You can follow their advice but I bet the Flasher "rate of flash" will be all over the shop...

I'd Blu tack them to the reflectors to see how they will look, I think fitting them to the lens itself would notice when the brake light is on, but experiment. Once you've found a suitable location, a couple of blobs of mastic should be sufficient to hold them and be easy to remove if one fails.

Did you finish your carb?

You could always chuck it in a box and bring it with you... there are plenty of Waste bins at SPR...

I think I have a good spare 600cfm Holley kicking about too..

Funnily enough, postie just delivered the gaskets and diaphragm, so will lob it together tonight!

Still think I might have knackered one of the jets, but don’t have the right tool yet, so will see.

May be interested in that spare, though. I’ll drop you a Pm!

 Next question…

Just came to install the new diaphragm and noted that in the book, there looks to be some sort of reducer in the vacuum port? I don’t have one!

I don’t recall anything falling out of there and I can’t see one in the kit. My immediate thought is I wonder if I kissed it and it disappeared into the washer during its bath. I’m guessing this is important and it hasn’t just not had one?

Am I scuppered by missing bits again…!? :banghead:

Well, mucho thanks to Blue and Pete who gave my carb a once over this weekend to check how shoddy my workmanship was and also solved the restriction riddle (none needed and no ball necessary, it seems!) carb is now ready to go back on tomorrow. Turns out it also has the incorrect jets in the secondary block, so ordered the correct ones. Cheers, Chaps. 8-)

This reminded me that I’d completely forgotten the other issue in all the panic over the carb puking everywhere…

I was on my way back and noticed that my voltmeter was suddenly reading 17-18. :?

No idea why, just had a new voltage regulator, which was working fine.

re the indicators, they will almost certainly flash fast with the led's added. just get an 'led' type flasher unit, they're not load sensitive so will flash at the normal speed whatever bulbs you have fitted. cheap as chips on ebay, i guess halfrauds will have them for 10 times the price too if you can't wait for the postman, lol.

Cheers Neil, I’ll look into that. :thumbright:

Hoping to mock up tomorrow and see how things are looking.

Well, didn’t get round to mocking up the lights, but a reasonably successful day. Got it running again, with a bit of advice from the usual suspects along the day, cheers Chaps. ;)

Chasing through the charging system and can’t see anything drastically at fault, I’m starting to wonder if I’m just being dim and might just be having a hangover from when the voltage regulator went and maybe the battery isn’t at full strength.

Think I’ll take it home and give it a good charge and go from there at the weekend. :-k

Back from a drive out and all ok-ish. Stumbling a bit, but sure that’s just down to carb fettling.

Did peak up at 18v again under throttle, so took the battery out to charge and not sure what to make of what I found… noticed a little inch wide (ish) puddle by the battery clamp, thought it was water, but then when I removed the battery, the ali is corroded right by where the liquid was. Also noticed a few moisture patches on the top of the battery near the negative terminal. Can’t see how any water would have got in as the floor has been patched and it’s stored indoors, so wondering if the battery has spewed somehow. Thought Optimas were leak proof, though. :k

Not sure whether I’m being paranoid and just to risk charging it or bite the bullet for a new one now.

Hey Stu,
If the regulator is working it shouldn't be charging above circa 14.8V.

I had the same issue on the Dart early days and it melted the wax from under the ECI module. You can still see the runs down the inner wing.
I found a load of dodgy crimps in the wire from the alternator to the bulkhead. Replaced and solved.

Check the earth on the VR and then check the route.
