in my opinion it would be in the interest of the class to start calling itself stock/super stock and start letting back-halfed cars in. the class would still run the same with the bracket but you could match race the stock and superstock cars in qualifying.

but also this could be difficult to keep the nostalgia style of the class. possibly could have to put afuew acceptations in the rule book not allowing cars with things like non factory front splitters/ rear wings etc.

again just my opinion, nothing to do with the face I run a back-halfed car
 :)

I think eventually someone is going to have to make up some solid rules .I must admit it's getting away from me a bit as I have so much going on around me at the moment that this class is well down my list of priorities .If it was me I would run two classes in one ......Stock ,stock rear ,full interior and all original steel ,then super stock back halved ,but it must have stock front suspension .no power adders for both classes .....Run the class as we do but whoever sets the fastest time in there class sets the class record .....it will add a bit to it but the class is still bracket racing ....does that make sense .

That works for me as long as the guys in the tower can manage the classes as they run.

I will be very happy to work with you on developing the class rules :thumbright: :thumbright: :thumbright:

.That would be easy Pete ,race no,s would be S/64. Or SS/64 ....the class is run as one so you race each other but the first meet will give you the two class records ....

I
think the original old usa superstock cars had pretty much factory type susension systems, ir was pro stock cars that got more radical, a backhalved car would be more like a prostock car, since the early 90,s the rules were a bit more lapse certainly the way the superstock barracudas and darts started to recieve full round tube frames under them etc etc,

As Pete well knows, there are many sub-classes under the banner of "SuperStock".

Duncan is right that the later iterations of Superstock had the cars with 5 links and full tube chassis tucked under a classic "body in white" tub.

At present there is not the number of cars in the UK to start sub-dividing into various classifications, but as interest grows there could develop a natural split still using the basic "Bracket Racing" principles.

i agree, it will take a very special leaf sprung car that has a lot of power to run consistent numbers, where as a backhalf car will blat very consistent times,,,
its all good fun i am up for using what ever fits,,

Nice little write up in this months American car magazine, would have been good to get some more pictures and get a full magazine feature about the class.
