The dreaded wiper fail

I have to say, when I was told the wipers didn’t work on my Coronet, my heart sank. Engine change? Sure, suspension work? No problem etc..but wipers..
Ok, I’ve read about 10 hrs of threads on failed wipers and wonder if anyone can suggest something I haven’t tried.
One of the main tests is to disconnect the bulkhead connector and hot wire the wiper motor to test it.
Two power wires (red and brown) are then jumped together (in the connector) and then off to battery positive. The green wire from the same connector goes to earth.
Well, I got some nice sparks off the battery + as I tried to trigger the wipers, they didn’t budge.
I’ve already tried running a new earth to the motor, but no change.
Any idea welcome.

I’d be taking the wiper motor off and seeing if it actually moves freely, sounds like it might have seized up. I assume you’ve already tried disconnecting it from the linkage to see that moves freely?

I think your right Blue, that’s the next step. There power out to the motor. When I turn on the switch it clicks from time to time but no more.

I need to look at mine, you turn them on and nothing happens. But if you leave it a bit they will start working and keep going. Same again when you turn them off and on again.

Not mine. I tried to move the arms and they’re locked tight. Time for a remove and rebuild. Mine is a 1/2 year only build and replacements are $5/600.
Probably the spindles have seized up, strip it all out and fit new seals while you’re at it, job done.

Hot rod it and fit a Land Rover or Mini set up, or anything else that might fit, Corsa, Focus etc?
I know its not original but will that be a huge issue
We put Land Rover in Mandie's Chevy truck.

It’s on my mind Matt, but I’ll pull it out and check it over first. If that fails...time to experiment.
I’m also considering pulling out the whole unwieldy A/C unit from under the dash and just fitting an aftermarket heater set up

Yes thy have some useful parts. Source hoses there much cheaper than elsewhere.

Fixed my wipers today, had a 3 speed switch on it and they don’t work correctly with a two speed motor apparently. Luckily I had a 2 speed switch in stock so that’s that job jobbed…

Result! Just to add to the confusion some tanks refer to a three speed wiper as off, on 1, on 2. Strange
