Swapped the wheels n tyres over today, so finally got your old BFG's on the back. Pretty chuffed with the result!
They're 15x7 Kelsey-Hayes with Cooper 215/70x15 (f) & BFG 245/60x15 (r)
Wheels were ordered from http://www.classicchambered.com/classic/wheels.html and shipped over after our trip last year. JPC painted them during June/July, collected them at the Nats (top job as usual
Didnt fit the hubcaps today, kinda like the wheels as they are for the mo. We will fit them when we know they're gonna stay on for a while cos I imagine they will be tricky to get on & off without damaging either the hubcap or the paint. Or both.
We'll still use the 14"ers too from time to time. The 15's were initially bought for strip use, to get a taller tyre out back, but may keep em on for a while regardless of strip action.
Also thought they might help eliminate some of our vibration probs before we get the prop re-balanced. And after a couple of short blasts today out to the A1(M) & back, think they've helped a bit.
Gradually building up the speed & revs to 2500, then 3000 then 3500 (about 70-80..... still got to get the speedo gears sorted!), seems to be a bit smoother than last time out with the original wheels on.
Only prob was hoofing it from about 2000 to 3500 produced some worrying vibration/resonance that felt like it was somewhere down between the trans & the rear end.
Got to wondering if the secondaries coming in (if they did) would cause more vibrations
Hopefully we can get to the bottom of it before next spring when the temptation to get to a RWYB gets too much.
Any way, back to the brakes & wheels - here's some more pics. 1st, one of the front SSBC discs (well, Mustang actually
I've chucked one in a pic of the hub caps that we havent fitted yet (ebay special). Not correct for 63's, by the way. 15" wheels werent used on B bodies till 68ish, before anyone starts
Oh, and click on the pics for a larger version. If you want.
