I have managed to dig out a couple of pictures of the Sox when it still had the 360 small block and 4 speed.
It still had a full interior at this time as well.

Here's a better view of the original cage made by Blue and Gary Layton from the Summit kit.
It was shaped like this so the rear "surfboard" seat would still fold down and the access panel would still drop to get the swag in for the track.
Cleverly done, but probably not a great deal of protection compared to later style cages; but it was a start....
