New seat covers fitted

While in Florida last year I picked up some seat covers for the Charger, The old ones had cracks in the upright part of the seat. I took one of the front seats out the other day and stripped it down, this is what I found.

The foam on the upright was OK but on the seat was another story, it had already been patched up and not to well.

I managed to get some foam from my local car trimmers, and as he is a American car nut himself he gave it to me with no charge. After a couple of hours of swearing, this is what i ended up with, I think I have done a reasonable job as I have never done this sort of thing, I know it's not Rocket Science but I'm pleased with it, I will do the other one in a couple of days, once me hands and fingers have recovered, the next one will be easier, and I must say I quite enjoyed doing it. Here are the pics of the one I have done. The only things needed to do this was, spray glue, bread knife, hog ring pliers and hog rings.

looking good, thats one area ive never attempted. do you intend to do all the seats or just the fronts.

Good on ya for getting stuck in! There are countless cars in the club that need that done, if I remember correctly. Could be a nice little earner for ya! Although Turnip is an upholsterer so he may get the 'ump!

Well done guv'nor! Fitting seat covers is hard work, but getting the foam right so it's the right shape and not full of lumps is another story...now here's the six million dollar question, is it nice and comfortable for that old back of yours?

Gosh - I remember that job, took me ages to get the things tight enough.
Best tip I can give anyone who tries this is a) Get them nice and warm first (put the covers in the airing cupboard or something. Or a nice sunny day leave them for a while to soften up). b) Hog ring pliers - I made my own by putting a slot in a set of grips. Worked a treat...

Well done Derek - new seat looks great. There are a lot of 'loose' recovers out there but yours looks nicely done.

my mate used tie wraps on his, said it made it easier to adjust the tension in selected areas, and also just made the whole job easier.

I did the fronts in my Charger. Are they Legendary covers? Mine were and the fit was spot on.
