How does that stand with the MOT tho? Doesn't it have to exit at the side or rear of the car?
I've never had a problem with getting an MOT. I had turn downs on my old exhaust system and that went through the MOT fine.

Stainless steel exhaust is the only way to Fly
Had a Charger back in the late 80's that had an exhaust that let out underneath the car. I took my little'uns out for a trip in the back seat, and they both fell asleep real quick, and wouldn't wake up without getting them out of the car and walking them around.

They are grown up now and enjoying life at Broadmoor and Holloway
Oh well, we must make some sacrifices for the one's we love

I went to Baccamans place yesterday to help him rebuild but diff and fit my new sure grip and 3.23 gears I got from Dave.
The ring and pinion that dave sold me had the original shim with it so we installed the pinion with that shim and used a ground out pinion bearing for set up. The first job was to get the pinion bearing preload correct as I opted for a crush sleve eliminator, this took three or four attempts. Once the preload was correct we fitted the sure grip and checked it for run out, the run out was a bit large but we then fitted the ring gear and reinstalled the sure grip and proceeded to set the backlash but then we discovered that the sure grip bolts where fouling the casing so we had to remove the sure grip and pinion and then we had to grind the casing till we had enough clearance, this took a few attempts as we didn't want to remove too much material. Once the clearance issue was resolved we went back to setting the backlash ot 2 thou and then we started to dial in 6 to 8 thou of bearing preload so that we could check the gear pattern.As it happen when the ring gear was installed onto the suregrip the run out was reduced from 7 thou to less than 2 thou. When we tested the pattern we found that the pinion depth was spot on considering that these were used gears in a different casing. Now that we were happy with the set up we strip the diff down for the final rebuild. We put the pinion bearing in the oven to heat it up to help use install it on the pinion and then when we put the pinion back in the casing with the crush sleve eliminator and shims we had previously set we found that with the new bearing the preload had to be re-done(the two bearing must of been two different heights). To correct this we had to try 6 different shim till we got the correct pinion bearing preload again, with all that done we re-installed the the sure grip and reset the backlash and then reset the sure grip bearing preload and rechecked the pattern and we were very happy with the pattern. With what seem to be a simple job it sure is very time consuming and you have to strip and rebuilt the diff every time you want to change any setting. We started a about 9:30 and only finished at 6pm with a couple of breaks. I learnt a lot form Baccaman and I would like to thank him for his help and allowing me to help him and learn how to rebuilt a diff. Cheers Baccaman.

Anton I run 3.23 in the Road runner and they are a good compramise although you will notice a rise in revs at the top end especially on the motorway.ANTON wrote:CARL BURGER DODGE wrote:Well done Anton

They should be alot better as I had 2.76 before. All I want is a bit better accelaration and still respectable gas milage
