Hope to have this out again in a few weeks time with " plenty of extra mods "

Have just had all the valve seats recut, new gaskets ( to take the air pressure ) and timing chain.

Doing some milling and porting of the intake manifold and blower transformation plate ( opened out the surface area by 25% and made a smoother transformation ).

Also putting some super secret mods on which are related to my work ( thinking outside the box )

Have made some calcs and reckon the overall gain will be approx 40 hp

Thanks Kev :thumbright:

1st pic shows supercharger transformation plate as was fitted on my last run. The plate intake has now been opened out on a milling machine ( with intake still attached ) to increase opening by approx 20 % : longer, wider and a more exagerated taper into the intake. Areas marked with a red felt tip are all solid obstructions to smooth airflow.

2nd pic shows these areas marked red reduced to smooth low arrow like shapes. You can also see how much bigger the supercharger outlet is now.

3rd pic shows side of transformation plate now drilled and backfilled to form a series of interlaced circuits through the centre of the alluminium. Via a low temperature dx refrigeration system I will be aiming to drop the whole plate to approx -15 c to create a supercold intercooler. The refrigeration system has been sized to give me 2 minutes use only so should be enough for burnout box and the run. This should significantly increase the efficiency of the supercharger and engine.

That`s the theory ... we`ll see [-o<

Part of the refrigeration system going in.

The system I`ve built runs on dc voltage between 8 and 53 volts and weighs less than 10lbs.

It is not driven from the engine so don`t have any hp loss to overcome

Have decided to pull the 360 blower motor out as I`m not happy with some aspects of the build and think I may be pushing my luck trying to get a motor I do not know the history of to run a 10.

I am putting the blower / pulleys / carbs / intake to one side and will be building a R3 blower motor from scratch with proper bottom end, steel crank, Indy 360 / 2 cnc ported heads and super strong low comp rotating assembly, blower cam, solid lifters. Should be able to get 700 ish hp ??. This will be a long term build and is likely to take 1 - 2 years to complete. Had toyed with fitting an R5 Nascar used engine but again, you don`t know what you`ve got til you use it and trying to replace custom parts would be a nightmare.

In the meantime, Dave Billygoat has nearly finished my 408 so will be fitting this together with 4500 torque convertor and refrigerated intake very soon which should see 10`s ???

Finally got the pushrods today. I think Dave has tried Comp Cams, then Smith Bros, and now Canton.

Billydoo`s gonna fit them and hopefully we can get the thing on the dyno next week

300 HP here we come

sweet smallblocks galore :)

That refrigerated intake is pretty trick, I've never seen anything like that before. Very clever indeed 8-)

Can I ask what you are using as a compression and expansion device.

Perhaps wrap the high-side around one of the headers and do without the compressor, assuming that you are using one ;)

Good to see Jon and others using Small-blocks!

Nice work there Billydoos!
No sticking the hemi on the Dyno to fake the HP numbers???

Alot of future small-block guys/gals will be watching this build with baited breath!
If this combo makes well over 500horses, then the 440motor is boat anchor material only!!!

Weight is everything on a racetrack, and the B-boby big-block guys are falling behind, Super-light A-bods with screaming small-blocks are the future now!
A few guys are still using blowers and its trad OLD-SKOOL and fun!

The real way forward is twin TURBO!
TIM FENNEL was saying this over ten years ago and no-one was listening?
I will be researching this further in the very near future, funds permitting?

Keep up the good work Jon and Billydoos! :thumbright:

The future is bright, the future is Hemi Orange!

Blimey Bacca

Quite a statement

1 step at a time

The dyno is booked for 19th May and we will be there for the day and we will be trying everything, doing individual pulls and noting all settings

Am taking refrigerated fuel  / race gas / pump gas / carb spacers /

and we can try severall different timing settings

I still can`t believe Dave Billygoat built this for £1 per c.i.
