Real magnesuim wheels!

Up for sale is a set of 4 magnesium rims, made in the 60's by Jimmy Howard. They are a 3 piece rim with an adjustable offset and have a Ford 5 on 5 1/2" bolt pattern. The rear tires are NOS Mickey Thompson slicks, still soft, and the front is firestone. Rear is 11x15 and fronts are 6x15.

Don't know Dave... They do look cool though. I know you can't polish em.

Perhaps use them for show, not racing or driving. Certainly should not see another pair like em in the UK.

you can polish them

its just not worth it as it oxidises again in hours

cast aluminium wheels (slot mags) are supposed to be good for 6-8 sets of tyres in circuit race use....

magnesium cracks and fatigues easier....

hence nice show piece

Dymag (of magnesium bike wheel fame) will x-ray old mag wheels if you send 'em in. Dunno if thats just their own kit tho. Bout £70 a wheel if i remember right.
I think their race-spec wheels have a 7 year life, road ones a fair bit longer.
No-one will believe you...
