Welcome Britfish clever name :thumbright: I find it quit bizarre that a car from the U.S converted for the British roads finds itself back in the land it originated from and then have the steering on the wrong side. :?

Great looking car though :D

Our '62 Dodge Dart 440 came from Seattle. Small world.

Had to ship it down to 'Frisco for the boat trip!

hey everyone thanks for the warm welcome! Adam Ford!! how are you mate!

Great to hear from you again...yeah mountain bike are doing great got all sorts of goodies coming for 2013 check it out.

facebook.com/roteccycles

so where do I start:

*disassembled the car completely
*rotissired and blasted
*placed on a frame table to straighted and square
*replaced L&R quarter skins, I&R lower outer rockers
*patched both outer wheel wells
*replaced rear valance with new AMD FormS piece
*replaced rear crossmember and extensions
*replaced trunk extensions with new barracuda pieces from AMD
*replaced entire right front frame rail with inner fender
*lower front core support
*replaced L&R doors
*replaced L&R front fenders
*replaced trunk lid
*replaced hood
*replaced front nose and lower valence

final pieces to do is:

*Install laser cut floorpan frame connecters
*Replace the curved corners of the convertible openings as they are
totally perished.

After Leo had his stroke the car sat for several year till his passing at which time the car was sold by his daughter to a chap named Mike Hodges (anyone know him?) who I purchased it from.

Its not going back to totaly stock as the front will be converted to front steer RHD rack with a coil front.

Rear is stock 8 3/4 with orginial dif and gears but will be all new with lots of shinny powdercoated bits and new springs.

Its being kept in true british RHD form.

And just to clarify

This is #0000000023 with an aug 67 build date as a 68 model. And it is a factory US built RHD. Thats what makes its rare in my book aside from the fact thats its also a 1of1 AA1 buffed silver met convertible out of 17 built.

how do I go about posting pics on this site? I have loads of pics from the day it rolled off the boat to present that Id love to share

Thanks again

John

And how many new handles and heads has that old hammer of yours had over the years?

But that's the problem with cars that have been in the UK for all their lives. They rot to hell. The further North they lived, the faster they rot with the number of weeks we have to keep the roads salted.

Hopefully it will never see salt again. :thumbright:

wastn't converted

they made them like that

Hamtramck plant made cars for Euro export
steering set up etc all ex Canada from the days when they were RHD
same as Australian set up apart from the brakes which will be 4 pots not girlock 1 pot sliders like the aussies got (65 66 mustang like)

UK barracuda will have gone to chrylser Begium for finishing/comissioning then into wawrick Wright Chrysler to be sold in the UK as offical import

would probably have export matkings on the Vin plate

will have formula S suspension and brakes and possibly a 16:1 steering box if manual steering

We need Tony O and John R to give us the full run down on these cars

it could be south african but i'd expect a slant 6 if that was the case
