Johnny's Dart repairs
This evening I will be starting on sorting out the dash wiring, moving the gauges, installing the autometer tachometer, installing the original radio (see if it works) installing the heater air con controls, and fitting the new indicator switch.

Fitted the indicator switch, which was more time consuming than it looked at first, that works OK now hazards as well. But I now have another fault, what I think is a bad earth somewhere, back feeding the flasher unit and making the 2 rear lamps flash on there own. But I'm fed up now and have come indoors, I'll have a look tomorrow!Dave81 wrote:Dash cap looks to be mint (lucky find)!

If you guys are ever looking for a dash pad I'd recommend these guys. Best reproduction I've seen and great to deal with
Good luck with those electrics

Johny, there will be two flasher units. One for emergency flashers and one for indicators. One can work whilst the other one does not. I spent bloody hours chasing non working indicators!
Do check all earths at the rear of the car on the lighting circuit. From memory your live feed to rear indicators is either green or brown, black feeds the side/rear light etc..
Has it been converted to uk legal spec?
If not, I have posted a thread on how to do this elsewhere on this site, probably under ' engine, electrics etc'.

Hi, I found the 2 flasher units, 1 behind the speedo ect, and one by the glove box.I appears the one by the glove box is the circuit that is causing the prob , as when I disconnect it the 2 rear light stop flashing,I will look into this this evening.MilesnMiles wrote:Johny, there will be two flasher units. I havn't converted anything yet ,as the MOT guy says he can pass it as is , because thats how it was made. However reading the MOT manual it says only cars used on the road before 1965 I think ?
I see how things pan out!

Johnny, you are right, MOT man is wrong. Get the MOT but be wary if old bill stop you as post '65 cars need amber flashers. I got stopped a while back hence my conversion.
The flasher unit by the glove box should be the one for the indicator/turn signal circuit. No indicators should work if you disconnect power to that circuit, but the flashers will still work fine on their own circuit.
