Challenger getting work at last - 7 year on update.

I won't be at Brooklands either as I have to work, next outing for the Chally will be the American Speedfest at Brands Hatch. That gives me three weeks to shake out the bugs, cut the paint back and get the livery on, which was proofed and Ok'd for cutting today.
Just got to chase the Minilites, and pay for them
Fuel gauge now working, the live feed rod had come unsoldered inside and of course I had to run an extra earth.

I know its not right Dave, it isn't a vinyl roof, its painted. I put the trims back to how I found them, as there isn't actually a lower trim, it uses the rear window edge. Not correct but I didn't plan ahead and fill in the trim holes so had to replace the trim rather than just have a paint line.Dave wrote:Matt. Check out the way the trim works along the bottom of the rear window.
I do plan to park it so the back is not too accessible, as that is the bit that is not so pretty!

Made it back just fine, the solenoid spanner worked fine!Pete wrote:Did you make it back from Brands without incident, Matt?
Traffic was quite heavy at the bridge for us - a rolling 5 mile queue - but we managed it without incident....
No over heat issues, and we managed to get into the Paddock after the parade lap and put the 77 car next to the 78 car and chatted to the owner.

The painted roofs used the same trim as the vinyl top cars. Check out Jim Wilsons Hemi Cuda.MattH wrote:I know its not right Dave, it isn't a vinyl roof, its painted. Re: Challenger getting work at last - NOW TAXED AND MOT'D!
I haven't updated this thread in 7 years, since I first got the Challenger back on the road for Speedfest.
Lots of bits and pieces have been done, Minillite replicas fitted, genuine TA exhaust boxes, 4 barrel carb, and its been to Le Mans Classic twice, but actual work hasn't been too much to look at.
But I've finally put different front seats in and sorted the rear seat.
Not sure about the red bits yet, they match the red roof writing, but once I put the black fence paint on there is no return.
Before and after is three coats of Black Cuprinol Ducks Back timber care paint. £14 for 5 litres, as Wilkinson were out of stock of their own brand which is only about £9. Water based and works a treat I think.
Rear seat could do with recovering eventually as the velour was done before 1979, but for now just all black is OK.
Next task is to get rid of the sunroof and put a headliner in, that will be a big task so maybe next winter. I have a roof panel to weld in and might remove the chrome trim round the belt line at the same time and fill the trim fixing holes.
