Hinges

Post by 68Roadrunner »

Sure looks lighter now, is the pin welded on the underside, any need for a brass top hat bush like the ones fitted in the top hinge to eliminate any play in the pin. Cool.

Yes the pin is welded, it's a nice fit so no real slop. no need to bush with such a lightweight door.

Top hinge is shaping up like this, the door will lift off now. Need to do it all on the passenger side next.

Door locks are a bit of a bit of a lump. I tried to find something lighter and more compact but for various reasons such as not lockable or having to change the door handles as well that didn't pan out. So it was a case of working with the originals again. Unfortunately some of the heavier parts are hardened so I couldn't do much with those.

Do you know roughly how much weight you'll save from 'adding' all these holes?
Have you collected them in a bucket to weigh later?

I know exactly how much weight is coming out, Everything goes on my super duper digital scales before and after and I have a spread sheet. A man needs a hobby....

I hope we will be privy to the weight savings at the conclusion of the build!

Enough holes to fill the Albert Hall!
You could write a song about that, great work as always Blue.
You can't have too much power, only a lack of traction!
