727 Strip/Race converter help!

Post by Mills67 »

Hi Guys,

Just looking for some help/info regarding torque converters for my small block barracuda. We have just built a super strong 727 for it (billet drum/billet servos, red frictions, kevlar bands, bolt in sprag etc, etc) to replace my 904 transmission.

do you guys have any tips/recommendations on torque converter brands/types? I am trawling the net to find thousands of brands and classic forums stating not buy this not to buy that etc.

Looking at pro torque street muscle or possibly ATI treemaster, anyone had any experience with these?

Car is 340ci, 3000lbs (with me), 3.55gears, 11.8 compression, runs 11.2 @121 on the motor.

Cheers!

Bill.

If you want max performance, have one made, i personally would use either UCC, ATI, JW or slightly cheaper PTC. UCC and ATI have the best rep.
The more accurate info you give them the closer they will get it, i would run at least 4000 stall in your car.

Everything that Mick said, but also add Dynamic to the list, too.

I used a JW but my 340 isn't making that sort of power.
