wheel silver with a light dusting of acrylic lacquer.Blue wrote:Looks like it came out of the factory that way! Lucky that the design of the dash has allowed you to swap trim across rather than having to make new pieces. What silver did you use to paint the trim? it has just the right finish.
time to restore the original steering wheel. I don't want an after market wheel I like the look of this wheel that's fitted.
problem is it has hundreds of cracks so I don't think the Epoxy route will be easy. i'm trying fibreglass resin to see what happens
seems to be working, but how long it'll last?
i'll be getting the rim painted gloss black

this may seem a bit premature but I like things on the shelf that I can just bolt on when the time comes
the fuel filler seems to be a common problem for leaking when cornering. (as can be seen on many Barracudas)
so i'm fitting a sealed locking filler cap. the original fuel tank breather pipe, which was connected to the filler neck at the top, will now be vented to under the rear.
and made a spacer from Delrin to flush mount the filler and to fill the gap left around the edge

the kit of steering bits.
the rack is Jaguar XJS which are not overly light. also there were rack torsion bars available from TWR which made the power steering even heavier. whether i'll find one is another thing though.
these racks are only 2.75 turns lock to lock but with the different length steering arms on the suspension it is equivalent to 3.4 turns ratio of the standard steering. obviously there will be less full lock on the wheels but I don't think it'll make too much difference.
