bonnet fixing,nuts
just fitted the bonnet on my car, lined up the 4 bolts that fit the hinge to the bonnet, and 1 of the the bolts would not fully do up,keeps turning.took the bolt out and its stripped the thread in the captive nut ,which sits inside the bonnet.not sure what will be the best fix for this, dont no if i fitted a helly coil in,if it would hold it? or drill out and tap a thread in with the next size bolt, has any else had this sort of problem, thanks, mick
Its fighting you all the way, isn't it?
I think both options are Ok, it depends on what you feel comfortable with - If you are concerned about a Helicoil ( I would probably do this first on my car) then if there is enough meat on the captive nut then go next size up...
