basic tips on adjusting Charger drums

Post by Gas for GOSH »

There's nothing majorly wrong with my Charger's brakes but I've done about 1500 miles in her in the last 6 months and the brakes now feel faded slightly - nothing spongy, pulling etc just takes longer to get down from warp speed! So it may be time to adjust them. It's a stock 68 and I've got the original service manual but as this is the first time we've done this can anyone give me some basic advice from experience please. Are there any major do's or don'ts? Any good tips or methods appreciated.

According to the Challenger owners manual I just bought you have to drive in reverse and apply the brake to get it to self adjust.

the self adjusters never work right, especially if someone's had it apart before!

Thanks guys - have had some excellent PMs that I'm appreciative of as well - that's part of what makes this forum great. Dave I will give you a call when we're going to give it a go.

Thanks again
