Nats view from a yank
Ahh good to be back home it seems like for ever I was at the Nats, first and foremost so honored to have been given the Long Distance award, surprised me, very humbled to say the least, just a very cool award,to put on the mantel ,many thanks again!
We got there late, and I was jet lagged I got off the plane ate lunch and off we went, about a 4 hour journey, from Newcastle in a plastic bow tie, a fast one 12.9 is dam fast for a car with out snails or a screw on the intake,I digress, as I wandered around, the lay out, was easy to move easily, and yall have a bar, they dont have that here and no camping either, so the whole mood was very warm and inviting.
I snapped as many pics as I could I was tired but got it done, some not so good but they get the point.
Meeting as many people as I could was ver cool to finally put a face to the people that post, loved meeting you guys, some I still didnt meet as many as I wanted to with a large venue some times we might have crossed paths ,and been at one end of the track, and some is clear at the other end of the track, none the less the presentation ,for me was awesome.
I love this club,I dont even belong to a club here because the politics,(among other things not to mention) and what we call clique behavior,as in making a lot of little sub groups and not including outsiders, you have allowed me in your club with open arms, that is just one of the differences between the States and U.K. atleast with this club, everyone helps out with the occasional jab or joke thrown in, but all in all thanks for letting me in such a fine club, and a special shout out to Rich for the killer Vanishing Point cup had a cuppa just today, will always think of that day!

Great photos, especially some of the low light ones thanks for sharing them. Glad you enjoyed the show and your award for the long journey, I've yet to attend the Nats myself.

Was great to say hi Drew, even if it was brief! I'm glad you enjoy the way we do Drag racing in the UK, it has a very sociable side which is somewhat unique I'm led to believe. It's a shame you couldn't have got to Shakey before it closed, that really was Drag racing distilled down to it's essence, the food court, going down the pub on slicks and open headers.....

It was great to see you again Drew, glad you like the cup!
Re: Nats view from a yank
Thanks again, and I know how much time goes in to getting a car to the track, and then having to focus on just making runs,so not much time for small talk, there is racing to be done, still going to always be a great memory

Hi Drew, so glad you enjoyed your trip. I thought of you when the rains came on the Saturday & Sunday, after your mammoth trip. It was disappointing for us, to say the least, but it was to be expected after all the dry weather we'd had! Just a shame it couldn't hold off for a couple more days
I nearly got to say hi! on the Friday evening. We were in the bar and Dave came over to say hi to my brother and I. You seemed to be busy enough talking to a few people so I thought we'd get to meet later during the weekend. Oh well maybe next time!
Well done on the award by the way, nice touch by whoever was responsible

Hey Drew
Great to met you after so much chat on the phone and email, and for a few short moment s you were reunited with the Chevy after last seeing it in Denver over 2 years ago. Sorry about the weather , such a downer considering it had been so hot and dry for weeks prior to the event , hey that's English weather for ya. A richly deserved award and thanks for making the effort to come and see us.
Yours

Yes it was a pleasure to meet, you see the car again ,looks very nice, you have a keeper there, the weather, no worries here, I enjoyed the cooler temps a light shower, no big deal, here our skies are orange from wild fires and no rain 32c just about every day, so we loved the weatherguy whitwam wrote: ↑Thu Aug 16, 18 9:24 am Hey Drew
