I bought the car , i've known it since i was 15 and was then owned by Don simons and have no interest in racing , bought a Gene gregory nose to semi restore hence selling off his home made panels and parts

Re: My Daytona
I just wanted one more big project , and the Thunderbolt i found , i just couldn't deal with the bloke , Like i say i've known the car longer than bob plus i've uncoverd previous history of it pre 70 when it first came here , many say they were going to buy it but nobody actually paid him , good luck racing
Re: My Daytona
Good luck to you Keith. Nobody will forget that car's racing heritage with Bob, but it desperately needs restoring. It will look stunning in F6 green. I'm just glad it has stayed in the country. Please keep us posted of your progress
Re: My Daytona
A guy in the states has some interesting info on it before it came here in 70/71 . I'm gonna to try and put some info on that he has found , none of which anybody over here would know of

Re: My Daytona
I can understand it when some old racecars are restored and people moan because all the history and character is lost.
But being a relative newbie, the earliest memory I have of the car is when it was plain white without the nosecone, racing at the pod.
And then plain yellow.
So as Adam says back to original is the only option. Good luck with the resto.

Re: My Daytona
Funny thing is , i'll do what i always do . Build my car for me , i respect old things but it is only a car and apart from minor things it'll look fairly stockish look for the photos of it in roots / chrysler electric blue in around 1970 And i haven't spent hours in a hospital bed at 2.am searching NOS parts to F*** it up . Once i get started i'll start a new thread , some body may spot things i don't know about
