Best parts source?
Looking to start some recommissioning on my old bird. Been a while...
Where are peeps getting parts from these days? I’ll looking initially for consumable type bits. Fuel tank, master cylinder or seals, brake bits, body panels ..yada yada. Many of familiar names seem to be gone now?
Gracias

Re: Best parts source?
Welcome back, Ian.
A lot depends on whether you wish to import yourself or buy from someone who buys Wholesale, ships, and sells retail.
"Customville" are pretty good if you want to opt for the latter, as are USAutomotive..

Most of my stuff comes from Rockauto, Summit and I have used Customville here for the odd bit.

I'm a newbie to Rock Auto but mightily impressed.
US Automotive also very good as on my doorstep in Bedford and very knowledgeable and helpful. They are great if I need it right now, phone call, 15minute drive, hanging on the railings in a bag outside to prevent Covid 19 spread!

Yeah Rock Auto's are handy and helpful, as are Auto Barn, and they generally sort out the duty at source so once youve paid thats it............
Re: Best parts source?
Much as I'd like to support UK retailers, it's hard to ignore RockAuto when it's half the price for the same part, duty paid and delivered. Last part I ordered was on a Friday evening and it was on my doorstep Monday morning.

Re: Best parts source?
I use US Automotive in the main, they operate like a modern parts factor the like of which I deal with every day, returns are not a problem and they can create an account where your vehicle details are stored so easy referencing. Not the cheapest I’d grant that but certainly very helpful and knowledgeable.
Re: Best parts source?
rockauto are great until they make a mistake or have a mistake in their listing ...... unless you want to pay (a lot) to send it back there is not a lot you can do...
look up the parts based on manufacturers part number to find parts that fit your car but for some reason are not listed in the section for your car
be especially careful with steering and brake parts
they are very good, but customer service when things go wrong is there..but cumbersome clunky automated a bit crap, and you are probably just going to have to flog it on ebay and order another, or add it to the pile of "useless and will never be used"
