i think you might need fittings to adapt your hoses as well

metric box on old car situation....

or at least this pipe fitting is now considered standard and not that one type situation, used to exist when borgeson came up with the box 15+ years ago

Ref straight swap -
Bolts straight on; that bits fine. Fits regular pitman arm. There is a really beefy UJ thing that links the column to the box BUT the column needs shortening and drilling. Obviously its the very definition of "Measure twice cut once" !!. The drilling is for a roll pin which you can further secure with a split pin if you wish. Its going nowhere.

Actually, my column only needed about 1/2" off (the instructions suggest 1") - but apparently had to come out of the car 4 times to be sure. So yeah; its a bit of a faff.

Ref fittings/metric etc - Comes with all new pipes, pump etc - dont use the old ones - so its all good. I'll get a picture when the engine is back in and the fittings are all on.

Really looking forward to it.

So engine out then, I was thinking to do it in situ, (small block).

And change the pump as well, so not using the original?

Thought I had replied to this - apologies.
No - not using pump - kit was self contained - box, pump, plumbing.

Also, could be done in situ if you can a) Get the shaft off with 5 years of rust and b) can hoist box out, its heavy.
Might have to drop a header off I suppose - depends on your setup.

Just to close this one down...

All done. Car does feel different.
I hadnt realised how used to the over-assisted mopar setup I was - the half a turn play in the steering and one finger light operation :)

So this feels much 'heavier' sort of what you are used to with a modern car; you do actually have to move the wheel rather than 'guide the barge with a tiller'. Seems to track true and there is obviously significantly less play. Its not absolutely degree perfect, there is slack in the system but I think thats the car as much as anything. It does make guiding the thing significantly more accurate.

It used to be 'leftish / rightish' whereas now you can position it with confidence. It was a worthwhile upgrade. And it doesnt leak now either [-o<
