Re: Rapids 80's photos
Some RWYB photos from early 80's
The first is a 70 Hemi Challenger.
Next up my first run down the strip to the tune of 17.13 @ 77.04 mph
Can't remember the name of the guy with the Chrysler 300 Blue's 67 4 spd Barracuda You let me drive it once round a Tesco carpark, that clutch was horrendous.
Chris Mulholland's 70 Challenger 440 R/T Gold Duster, 73 Duster, I think it was a 340, it was running in the 11's at the time
Graeme Arno doing a burnout in the pits ? Then on the track My notes say this 66 Satellite was an ex Hemi car it had a 383 at the time, taken at the NASC nationals in 82

This Challenger I think is the Street Machine test car, which was restored back to its original Plum Crazy and then sold out to America to live with another Plum Crazy Challenger.

Gold Duster had a 340 AAR engine from a well known car in it. That engine was in many cars over the years including 2 of mine. The Duster became Richard Eaton’s Quick Draw super gas car a few years later.

Thanks Blue I didn't know that.
Some more starting with Micky Fullbrooks Dart (in the middle, mine on the left & Chris's Challenger on the right). This is what became the Big Bopper Next up 69 Dart GTS Blue's Barracuda again The Hemi Roadrunner Not sure who's this Satellite was.

So what happened to the yellow Dart ‘Mopar Missile’?
Mick Deakin has owned it for years, been “resting” for at least 10 years though…

Kev and his Satellite live in Caterham, 40 miles from the coast.RobTwin wrote: Fri Oct 03, 25 8:29 amThanks Mark, I agree...Rapid Richards wrote: Fri Oct 03, 25 7:46 am 40 years, you both deserve an award for that![]()
I don't recall ever seeing that Hemi Roadrunner again after 82![]()
Do you remember Kev Martin? He lives down near the south coast now but I think he was a bit further north 'back in the day'. We were looking at some of his photos a couple of years ago that he took early 80's and some of you guys featured... well he still has the same 71 Satellite he bought in 1979![]()

Mick’s Big Bopper still lives, currently owned by Ty Strevitt and running in NSS. Given the hands it’s been through over the years it’s a wonder it survived to be honest.

Re: Rapids 80's photos
The white Satellite is likely to be the car Tony Jarvis pro streeted in the ‘80’s and still owns. I don’t have a photo to hand to check the reg but it certainly ran in Production before he got it.

Re: Rapids 80's photos
I was offered that car in the ‘80’s for £850, later I also had access to a Hemi for £1500 luckily I didn’t buy either!
