Local meet / coffee info ?

Post by morgan »

Quick question -

Where do you all get your more local info from ?
I mean the Sunday morning coffee meets or similar.

I am not on Facebook etc so I am guessing it might be there ?

Where is the ‘social action for car geeks’ posted these days ? I am a bit out of touch…

As Pete said Facebook is the current platform and it’s quick and easy. Just join the American car pages and jobs a good’un.

The groups i use are…

MMA
UK Mopar
American cars uk
B Body Mopar
Hot rod & American cars

Thanks both - yes, I was afraid of that.
I've managed to avoid facebook/meta so far (like a lot of us that work in IT) but I'm really missing out on 'the scene'.
I'll give it some thought how to access without selling my soul to the data-slurping-monster ! Thankyou !

Have a presence there but do not put your Heart and soul on display so fragments of your identity can be pieced together.

I am VERY careful on what I post - I do not post opinions, family, marriage, political persuasions details. Some people put their whole lives up there....

The minute you post up you have a Dodge Charger you will be everyone's best friend!!!!

Start with the MMA Facebook site, possibly the "opposition" UK Mopars, and the Nostalgia Superstock site is good too!!!

Just my opinion - touche!!!

Come the revolution, my card in the local shop window appealing to like minded Classic Car people wanting a drive and a coffee on Sunday morning will rule \:D/ \:D/

Pete very correctly called me a luddite many years ago ( Im sure he was smiling when he said it, probably....maybe) and I know Im probably missing stuff that would be of interest but I dont know anyone who uses Faceache and doesnt have some sort of issue with people on there. Not something that appeals to me at all so I choose to stay away from it all.

Good luck though if you go for it. Maybe worth just spending a bit of time with someone who is savvy with it so you can get your private settings done properly etc. Theres another thread here somewhere that I read with interest around scams on the market bit. A very eyeopening insight from Blue, Dave etc :thumbright:

There are a couple of regulars I like to try to down south;

Bagshot breakfast meet at pine ridge golf club, Bagshot. free, second Sunday of the month 9am all year, with access to the club house for breakfast too. Mark Rumble has been running this for quite a long time now!

Departure lounge, Alton.
April to September I think, £1 entry. First Sunday of the month from 1400 if my memory is right.
