Re: Johnny's Dart repairs
Well after 5 years on the bench, I made up a gearbox holding fixture to make rebuilding the box easier.
So much time has past, the Dart has been parked in the corner, under a dust sheet.
I'm looking forward to making a start now.

I'm afraid it's been much longer, tucked away in the corner under a dust sheet, than I had hoped.
6 years in fact.
But slowly getting back on to it now.

Re: Johnny's Dart repairs
Not quite sure why they are not the correct orientation.

Re: Johnny's Dart repairs
i don't have a 'smart' phone but i've read about this issue on other forums. i'm assuming you took the pics with your phone so you may hold your phone any way up and they will still show on your phone's screen correctly. however when transferred they show in the orientation that they were taken, so if the phone was sideways to get the shot it'll display 90 degrees 'wrong' on the forum. you have to rotate them on your phone apparently so they show correctly on here. pretty sure that's what i read, but it was a couple of weeks ago and i've been asleep since then so.....
neil.
neil.

Re: Johnny's Dart repairs
Thanks, I tried that, I must be doing something wrong.

Re: Johnny's Dart repairs
There seems to be a random issue with photos coming up the wrong way round. One or two photos posted at once usually is fine for me but post more than 3 at once and it all goes wonky.

You clearly have too many projects!

Re: Johnny's Dart repairs
I haven't been on here for a long time, as "other" projects have got in the way , and the Dart has been tucked up in the barn hibernating, waiting for me to attempt the auto box rebuild.
I'm hoping to start again this year

Re: Johnny's Dart repairs
So its a year later, other projects have been completed, and its time I looked at rebuilding the 727 gearbox.
I've collected lots of parts over the years. One thing I haven't bought, is a bolt in sprag.
I'm not going to be drag racing the car. Is a bolt in sprag clutch really necessary. I have new rollers and springs to fit.
Your thoughts would help me out.
Thanks

Re: Johnny's Dart repairs
Bolt in sprags originated as a repair item for when the sprag has spun in the case. It has become a “must have” but I only consider it good insurance if you’re going racing. Make sure the sprag is tight in the case. Re stake it with a centre punch if its a little loose and tighten the small grub screw then carry on with your day…
