I started writing on boxes a while back, to save keep opening them looking for stuff I'd bought years ago.
A good lot of the stuff I bought for the Dart 10 years ago , was much cheaper £ to $ .
I bought alloy big valve heads, a carb and a 4 barrel, 2 cam shaft kits( wasn't sure what I wanted), and all the 727 parts.
Plus other random stuff.
Marking up boxes also helps out you wife and kids sorting it all out when you croak, and leave behind a barn full of parts .
They won't know what they fit if you don't write on the box.

I moved the Dart today , from its years sleeping place.it was stuck , so I had to winch it out , on to the ramp .
Next job , refit the gearbox.
And try to remember where all the bolts and part are.

New flex plate. One of the parts I bought 10 years ago, and stored , waiting for me to get on with it

I've just spent 4 hrs trying to find the nut and bolt stash ,from when I took the gearbox out about 10 years ago ?
Finally found them.All together , which is nice , but not in the boot of the car

I've just had a look back at my build thread.
I took the gearbox out in November 2016
So nearly 10 years.

It's a bit heavy
Too heavy for me to lift onto the gearbox jack.

i remember at least 2 of us were needed to lift a 727 (with convertor) up into a car, and that was up on a 4 post lift. they're bl00dy heavy for sure.

And it's in , that will do for today , bolted in place , torque converter to bolt up, and everything else , job for tomorrow.

Blimey, I used to get mine in & out with a trolly jack & a piece of wood all on my own, no wonder I'm having surgery on my elbows.

I use my Harley Bike Lift, much easier than straining and it was all of £40!!

yeah i 'used' to put transit gearboxes in on my own from the floor up and over my head. now i've got 2 discs out at the bottom of my spine and can't work, plus all the pain killers i have to swallow every day. dad (my boss) used to say ''get someone to help you with that'' and i replied ''i can do it''. he said ''yes but you shouldn't or you'll regret it when you're older''. mmmmmmm
