Alright already!! Just got everything ready for tomorrow and sorted the few pics out that I took. Stu took a few on the way home but I wont get them till Monday I guess.
Swapped the sender over as soon as we got there - didnt get to test it as per Gavin's suggestion, but I suspect it reads a bit hotter than it actually is (t'was reading just over 1/2 way toward the H for just about all the trip home).
Got a couple of the right ones coming over in the post from a mate (thru the 62-65 website) in the US, $3 each plus postage, so will get the right one fitted in another week or so.
Once we'd handed the cash over

etc etc and packed up all the old junk that had been cluttering up Paul's garage for the last 15 months, went for a 'test drive' (he'd already tested it but wanted one last go I reckon

).
Just one little prob appeared about 2 miles from his garage, round the backstreets of Acton

as I pulled over to let Paul remind me how it should be driven (ie, like you stole it!), the neutral push button got stuck in so we were going nowhere without a fair bit of fiddling with the other buttons and up under the dash.
Managed to get back to the garage and gave it a good squirt with some lube. Prob for the 1st time in at least 5 years. Probably 40. Something to keep an eye on
Journey home was fairly uneventful, thankfully, except I'd forgotten how noisy the damn thing is inside the car. Going along at 50-60 or so most of the way back (dual carriageways with speed cameras kept the urge to hoof it at bay) felt more like 80+. It's not the exhaust - that's reasonably quiet

, just a whole bunch of mechanical clatter seems to come up thru the dash, as if there's a stethescope attached to the valve covers at one end and amplified into the dash at the other!
Maybe something to do with the speedo that needs lubing too. The needle dances around all over the place at certain speeds, and reads about 20% over, at other times.
Oh, and the fuel gauge only goes up to 3/4 when full (same in the Satellite).... presume the alternator gauge is ok??
Here's the few pics I took - not many on the move cos I was driving - will post Stu's when i get 'em.
