Really do they show a tape delay or do people stay up all night.

They tell us everyone around the world is watching ,but I dont think they pull in the numbers they say ,but I could be wrong after all we are out here in the middle of the country so news travels much slower here

Not as many people watching in the UK as there was back in the late 80s - early 90s. It was very popular then as channel 4 had a weekly show of highlights.

Yes we used to stay up very late to watch it. Me and my mates used to have Superball parties. Few (OK more than a few) drinks, stuff to smoke, bites to eat.
Usually work on a Monday morning suffered.

Wow that would have been fun to be at ,I never realized that somebody would stay up that late for a sporting event ...........sounds like a good excuse to party

And yes the day after the SB should be a holiday

Hopefully this year things will get better around here. My Mum is now safely in care, the contents of the house have all been sold and the house itself is about to exchange contracts. I'm still selling off every last thing I don't think I want to keep in preparation for hopefully moving this year.
Though I have seen a few cars I might have liked to have bought, It's all a bit pointless until I have somewhere to keep one, although if the exact right thing came up I'd just have to go for it. I have been buying a few vintage parts that I like in preparation though...

Firstly I would to thank you John for walking around with me and introducing me to people and putting faces to the names I knew from here at the Nats.

Nah they were a bit of overachievers this year ,played a weak division to get the #1 seed,they need another year to get Peyton a little better run game ,

Crikey, knees, back, arms I'm knackered...glad I have a bit of expert assistance and an enormous diamond saw which whips through those pavers like butter...so got half way round and now the lot's covered in snow.

Then it's the en-suite bathroom....I can't wait to get back on the cars, I'm getting too old for this!

i have a Caliente 500 skateboard for resto hopefully in a container with Mr Fentons latest imports (thanks Ron)

the Motor is progressing in as much as i now have everything apart from pushrods and headers and the rotating assembly is off for a balance.
the head is built.

have stripped a UK sourced and obvioulsy very little used Hemi 6

i have tracked down an aussie single rail close ratio "PowerBrute" gearbox for the charger so am selling stuff on ebay to finance purchase and import

put in a stepped ladder attenuator in my preamp and replaced some valves with russian 70s old stock

top end strip and un sieze on a TV175 complete motor which i got off a geezer in east london.

the loft is going to get converted into a bedroom for daniel
and the kitchen i put in 8 years ago needs to visit the skip

Lately I have mostly been pulling Guzzi's apart.
Can't be arsed to photograph it........

I have been fiddling about under the hood of the Vette. Initially it was just to clean a bit of salt corrosion off the engine and clean it up a bit. Just for something to do.

But then I found the rubber hose connecting the PCV system (I think?) to the intake manifold was cracked and leaking in several places. The car must have had a bit of a vacuum leak all the time I have had it.

I fixed that easy enough. But then thought I had better check a couple of plugs. This is where things started to go wrong....

The plugs did not look great. They are suppposed to last 100K miles but looked a bit shagged to me. Plug gap was 62 thou and after a quick google I found 40thou is what they should be set at.

So I ordered a new set of plugs.

But then I found that it is only 40 thou after December 2003 when they started using Iridium plugs. Before that they used a platinum plug that used a 60 thou gap. So the old plugs were not so bad after all.

Oh well never mind. I prefer NGK plugs anyway. No harm done. Just have to remove all the other plugs.....

I have never NEVER found a set of plugs more difficult to remove from an engine. And I thought the passenger side on a 440 ebody was bad....

I had to remove some pipework and get cable ties around the boots to pull them off. The plugs themselves are in TIGHT. Long ratchet needed in a very tight space.

I got them all out though. Over two nights. Except one plug lead pulled apart in the hours of struggle.

So now I have had to order new plug leads........

Actually i could have just bought ONE. But GM do a red version that is supposed to be much better. I just don't know how to break the news to the boss who is running the household budget....

I've been mostly doing work on the house lately-
Worst job was to insulate under the floor of the front room.
It's a suspended wooden floor, very draughty, 9' ceiling so impossible to keep warm.
I spent the weekend mummified in overalls, facemask, goggles, etc in a muddy 18" crawlspace trying to stuff lengths of glassfibre beween the joists & nailing up battens.
It seems to have made a big difference to the room, but I'm NEVER doing it again!!

I have grabbed a wee bit of car-time, I wrestled the 4-speed into place on Sunday and left it hanging between the bellhousing and the prop loop. I gave up, exhausted afeter half an hour failing to shove it in it's hole.
Last night I had another go and managed to get the splines to engage
BIG sigh of relief! It's now bolted in along with the crossmember and the shifter fork.
Just the easy bits to chuck back on now

It's often like that isn;t it? You struggle for hours and get no-where. Then after you have walked away and calmed down you go back and POP iwhatever you were struggling with goes straight in or out (depending on what you were doing).
