i know you will know but the pressure bleed down is not to do with the marks you have on your bearings, that prob is elsewhere unless the clearences are massive, could you have a gallery plug missing, i doubt that i am sure that it would never show pressure on the gauge, rackin me brian

I thought the same Dunc, I would of still expected to get better pressure as grooves in brg are bad, but not that bad to give massive oil drop.Cannonball wrote:jim

Gallery plug sounds like a good suggestion

Surely you would be better to have a more restrictive feed to the heads under those circumstances? restricting the feed to the whole engine can't be a good thing when it is only the heads being over oiled?GTXJim wrote:Cheers Guy's, thanks for the advice, I've also heard that the big pump can supply too much oil to the Indy heads with the external oiling and almost fill up the valve covers so considering putting an adjustable oil pressure relief valve on. But in the mean time will check gauge then pump then every thing else, so should be fun this week.

Hi Paul, Yes mate the pro gram mains were lined bored and I plasigauged all the mains when the motor was assembled and will recheck when I fit the new bearings. Have you still got your Super Comp car and Motor or has it sold? I'd still like to come down and have a look one day cheers.

Yes Jim, have got the car in the workshop. You are still very welcome to come over. I'm going to Florida on Saturday, back on 21st.
Call or e-mail me and come on over.
If you are still having problems I'll be happy to help you out.
I also thought last night to get you to check the oil pick up. Make sure when it swings around that you still have at least a 1/4" under it, as this will suck down just like a hover. I've see these fitted too low in the pan.
You definitely need restricted oiling to Indy heads as well.
Good luck. L8R.
Paul.
