I think you will be disappointed with the one on the left, it's the same as the one I had and it was nothing like the lid on the can, it's a lot duller, test it on something first, It might be the 2 cans I had where duff. let me know, then I might order some from USAutomotive.

Thanks Del. We will test it but I reckon we'll need to get something that actually says 'Street Hemi' on it, and preferrably with an official Mopar logo on too!

One thing we've been meaning to do for some time is to fit a mini starter. We've actually had one but not fitted it, for donkey's years. I think Brutus had ours and replaced it (twice?) when his went on the fritz, so the one we're fitting is not that old. And I've lost track what make it is

But like all/most of them, a bit of jiggery-pokery is needed to get the cables to fit properly cos of the way the terminals sit so close to the block.

So out with the hacksaw.

"The terminal adaptor had to be filed so much for the starter to fit, I ended up exposing a small bit of metal.

Without the adaptor it’s difficult to get the cables on from underneath.

So I cut the moulded double terminal adaptor in half. Mounted the half with the small terminal as intended, (so cable connects from above) but turned the half with the large terminal over so that the cable connects from below. This moves it away from the block and makes it more visible.

The smaller terminal is still a bit unsighted from below but should be easy enough.

Managed to fit the snap on cover back on over the main terminals. Should keep some grime off.

Still a finger gap between terminal & block."






By way of comparison, to show roughly what it was like before the mod, Stuart put the terminals back roughly as they were. Not strictly as ‘before’ in that the large terminal has been bent down to help with the new orientation.

Rob / Stu, had the exact same problem when I fitted my mini starter. In the end I didn't use the adaptor. Its been fine so far but will refit it the way your guys have when I haul in another motor out soon.

I did try the adapter, also cut up as you have done, but i felt it exerted too much leverage on the smaller connector; so I opted for the same approach as Blue....

Back on the paint briefly...

Itook these mainly for Derek to see, but thought I'd post them here in case anyone else is interested....

The throttle bracket was painted with the remains of the pukka Chrysler street hemi orange aerosol (the one on the right at the top of this page), and a scrap bit of metal was sprayed with the VHT 'Chrysler hemi orange'.
I took a pic outdoor in the daylight thinking it would illustrate the difference clearer, but the indoor pic with the flash may be better for that:

(i wasnt awake enough to think of arranging the brackets in the same 'on the left' or 'on the right' position as the aerosols, but hopefully ypu recognise a throttle bracket from a scrap bit of metal )

Hopefully you can see how much more dull the VHT is. If I could open the hood on the Polara I'd compare it with the earlier race hemi orange, but from memory, this VHT looks similar to that.

Surprising how different it is from the later street hemi...
