The dyno loads the engine in a strange way which requires a special dyno clucth set up. I wasn’t aware of this nether was this mentioned in any documention. This caused the clucth to melt and leave the building at 14bhp

Another new thing I wasn't aware of !!!
Remember my Zed going on the dyno, freshly built.
Made 107 bhp with me waiting for a big bang!!!!
Back again for another run, after a bit of use , and about 120 , if my memory is correct.
20 years ago!!!

Spend the complete night on the lathe “making the clucth assemble lighter for racing” -

Managed to find a new set of clutch plates

Dumped the oil and got the sump off to get the rest of clucth out. Flushed the motor a few times and filled it back up with fresh oil. Adjusted the clucth to lock fully at 500rpm

Started it up and all seemed good .....

Bike made 230hp on the dyno after hours and hours of fuel and timing adjustment.

On the last few high power runs at 11,000rmp the tyre developed a bulge :x

We watched the tyre very carefully adjusting pressure and load all day. It’s very strange and look more like manufacturing defect

The 150 top speed was tested by a few including the legendary Rollie Free took his modified Black Lighting to a new US national motorcycle speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 1948 (pictured below).
