Yep, kinda special..... when you've shared a womb with someone you get a bit attached.... or should that be detached :D

...and I've known both of you for 20+ years and I still can't tell you apart!

Seriously Rob, the new upholstery looks sweet. Good job you don't have the superstock hood scoop, or Stu wouldn't have been able to use the hood as a table...

Thanks Andy/Adam :D It is getting easier as we get older; there's many old photos from our yoof that I cant tell who's who

Should have taken a pic of all the garage, the hood is the only place available at the mo for things like sorting out the door panels - the rear seats are on the roof and the Satellite is completely covered with stuff too.

It'll be good to get it back together & start uncovering the Satellite for the 1st time in more than a year

update.......update........update........

Well, not that much progress I suppose, not to the untrained eye, at least :?
But Stu's been putting in overtime trying to get the interior finished, and doing sterling work with all the niggly little jobs like fitting the rear seats, panels, new door locks (driver's side has never worked in the 4yrs we've had it), lubricating the window mechanisms, fitting new plastic sheet/membrane on doors behind panels, window fuzzies / cats whiskers, and eventually getting the front door panels on...

...only to find they dont fit either!!

So, that's:
Instrument cluster - painted in areas that should have been plated - returned for refinishing.

Front seat covers - stitching colour incorrect. And now we've also found the front's to be too 2" too short on the seat backs - fitted, but tight.

Rear seat covers - these are too baggy!! Taken back to upholsterers to add more foam or at worst, remove stitching, trim material and restitch.

Rear panels - ok :thumbright:

New/old comparo

Front door panels - once fitted, couldnt shut the doors!! Expected them to be a bit tight with new door rubbers (windlace) and new panels, but this is because the panels are about 6mm too long at their trailing edge (opposite end to the door hinge), so need trimming
Stu's made a start, peeling back the vinyl and cutting 6mm off the card, ready to re-glue the vinyl.

Below you can just see where the panel shuts against the rubber - the panel should stop just short of the rubber....

The perils of having a car that repro parts have only been made for a year or two. It's ok for you Charger guys

This weekend we made a start on removing the old exhaust system :working:
Bolted at the 'header' end but the rest needed grinding off as some septic twonk had welded the rest of its mounting points to the hangers & the frame rails

Anyway, a couple of cutting discs later and the old system is off, with just the worts bit to come - removing the remains of whatever brackets have been cobbled together & welded to the car

Hopefully get that done next weekend [-o<

Pics to follow....

Fear not, now we have rear seat belts and the kids will be allowed in the back, I'm sure it wont stay that clean for very long
