Another way might be to cut a slot out opposite the bulb so you can mount the LED panel flush so it doesn’t obscure the bulb?

Very happy with the seat now it’s back in, not so happy with the parcel shelf and the seat base fitting.

Big gap between the seat base and back, but that was there before. Just shows up worse now that the seats are so mint! Think the floor and brackets may need to be investigated.

Also makes it very obvious that I need a new parcel shelf now. it dips behind the seat and shows the backing! No speakers under it anymore, I wonder if they were just propping it up.

Will have to check out the workshop manual and see how it’s all supposed to sit. Way comfier than it was, though and no splits anymore!

I had the same problem when refitting the seat back on my '73 Challenger - big gap between the base and the back. I eventually worked out that I was sliding the bracket at the bottom of the seat back inside a box-like part behind the base (difficult to describe!), whereas the bracket bit should be in front of the abovementioned boxlike thing and bolt onto it from the outside. Once I worked that out, the top of the seat back fitted flush with the parcel shelf. Hard to explain without pics, and may or may not be the same problem as yours anyway....

Relevant bit: "The bottom two long D loops / hooks on that seat frame go in front of the slot. I've made the mistake before so that's why I bring it up. It looks like they will go inside the brackets, but they go on the outside and the bolt screws to the bracket. If by chance you have them inside the bracket in will stop the top rear section from going down far enough. When installed correctly the top of the back seat will be very close to flush with the rear package tray."

...so look for the long D-shaped loops at the bottom of the seat back, and make sure they're not going inside the slots/brackets on the body, but rather in front of them. I forgot there were two of them by the way, not just one as I misremembered.

Just refitted and you were bang on. Turns out the seat has been incorrectly fitted for the last 11 years.

I’m not feeling bad though, now that I understand, I’ve googled it and looks like a common mistake, so I’ve added it to my “things I know better now” pile and am very, very happy with the fit of the seats now.

No gap between back and base, no new parcel shelf required, sits miles better at the back and is twice as comfortable as it was before. Awesome.

Just that my faded seatbelts look Bananarama! now.
