Yeah I remember the stewards trying to stop people but some just said Bananarama! it and went up there regardless

I think the bigger issue was that the Stewards were moving people on from camping on the grass verge that is beside the main route in next to the Pits.

There were no signs to say "No Camping" so people pitched up and then 1 hour later the stewards would roll up and tell them to strike camp.

It caused a LOT of annoyance with people, and I think it was the fault of the 'Pod staff for not putting up signs or briefing people when they came in that it was not permitted to camp along the access road.

Is this the same case this year??

i heard that people were prevented from going on this field on the Friday last year, but we arrived Saturday morning and went on there unchallenged, wondered where everybody else was :D

We turned up on Friday, started setting up on the top field near another tent, then the owner of the tent came back & said he'd heard that there was no camping there. No signs or directions from any stewards, and the map on the back of the official programme said it was a camping area, but we moved just in case. Then we found that people were camping there the next two days, so a bit annoying. Will the maps be changed, signs put up, and the stewards briefed this time??

This needs properly sorting for this year. This was a nightmare last year, being prevented from driving beyond the fairground to camp, and even to go past there at all on the friday unless you were a racer. I saw someone being made to walk his cans of fuel from the fairground to the pits because the jobs worth wouldn't let him take his car round there.

It also meant our camping group was split up, early arrivals got on the top field unchallenged, we had to camp by the fairground, 1/4 mile away.

Please can this be PROPERLY sorted out well before the event.
I cant see why the top field is not available, it has been every year before, and is a nice place to get away from the noise when you need to, especially with family in tow.

When the jobsworth told us there was no camping in the top field, we just said we were going to the pits for racing, and would come back to the faiurground side for camping, knowing (or hoping!) that we'd be able to camp near the pits in the usual place. Which we did, with no bother.

So in a way I'd rather it wasn't sorted properly, otherwise there'll be NO CAMPING signs all around the pit side and we'll have to park over the other side - as Matt says, miles away.

At least if they aren't prompted about this, it might get left as it always has been (except for last year's blip)

Total ballsup last year, not allowed past funfair all weekend, told no camping, then told because of broken glass on field. Where I normally pitch was out of bounds,by Sat morning it was full of tents. As usual pod staff need to get their act together and try communicating with each other before talking to punters who've just paid to get in expecting the normal setup. Still considering whether to bother this year. Mrs was not pleased camping 1/4 mile from loos over a wet bumpy field in the dark. As for the shower block, well there's nothing fairground side and it's a bloody long walk to the only shower block on the far side.

That old chestnut

It would be interesting to know if they adhere to the same rules for the Volksfest the week before.

Are they to stop the camping pitside as well? If so I`m with Steve and thinks it`s totally wrong to have the showers where they are and not allowing camping. Perhaps they have new showers on the entrance side?, anyone know??

how the f..k can families etc camping etc in the top field be a health and safety issue ??? FFS they would be better off saying drag racing should be banned at the nats for the same reason, or the fair rides, ffs I give up, this is a f...ing nanny state and we're all bowing and courtseying and its getting worse
