This year I decided to strip and powder coat all the item inside the car and in the boot. I have stripped all the gear out of the door and from under the dash and I also took the leaf spring and fuel tank out so I could paint them and tidy them up. I have spent about 30 hrs stripping all the part of the old paint and rust and I delivered all the bits to the platter and powder coater today and should have it all back next week and the i can start assembly.I have also taken off alot of trim so I can Bananarama! and remove any small dents at the same time. I have taken all the rubber off and soaked them in petrol to restore them and make the supple again and that has work out nice. My side windows were very badly pitted so i took the good one from my spare doors and took them apart and also took mine apart and made to good ones and also cleaned all the rubber and polished them to a high shine.

I made a set of new stainless steel gas tank straps as I didn't want to ship them from the states.

I'm a very strong guy so I just lifted it in.

Just kidding Dave I use my engine hoist to sit it right on the back of the tailgate and the I just Bananarama! in. You can see I made an MDF cradle and there is a piece of MDF on the floor of my car which distributes the load but also make it easy to slide the engine in till it hits the folded seat. :thumbright:

I'm the boss in my house and if I want to clean something in the bath I do. I have built engine in the front room and rebuilt motorbikes in my living room before I had a garage.

Blimey, when you start you don't half get stuck in mate!!
All those little details will make a huge difference to the overall look of your car :thumbright:

Didn't know about freshening rubber by soaking in petrol- does that have a lasting effect?
No-one will believe you...
