Thanks Mark.
I noticed tiny air bubbles in the oil on the dipstick after the lifters collapsed. Just wondering if that's causing the problem. I run a 7 quart pan and fill it until the oil is in between the full and add marks. Maybe I have to much oil in the pan and the crank is whipping it up. I might drop that lifter in some oil and see if I can get it to pump up. If it does I may give them another go and run less oil.

Nice to meet some of you and thanks for your advice on my car.
On its first outing showed a few signs, small leak, battery not charging anymore, but at least it got there and back.
Work to be done.

Oil too thin for the engine?
I ask because I had this problem when I first got my Challenger. If the engine got to a higher temp than normal the tappets started to collapse. Letting the engine cool for a half hour used to cure it. But changing to a heavier oil cured it for good.

Mick with a bigger stroker crank you need to move the oil even further away...best way is to drop the sump and measure the amount and level and adjust accordingly by drilling a little hole on the dip stick for the new full level.
I think its still too much from what you have said hence the whipping oil effect....which may have caused the lifter to collapse
Do you have a windage tray ?

It doesn't look like it was up to the usual standard, was the turnout of rods low as well?
Actually, I've just checked out UKDRN and Yawning Cat photography and it looks like there was a fir bit of action, but overall a bit quiet...

There was no shortage of turnouts Ivor, there was even toilet roll theft from the ladies toilets announced

If it hadn't been for the murdercycles, the VW's and the Gasser circus there would have been tumbleweed blowing through the place on Friday & Sat, picked up a bit on Sunday. In general a very low turnout on previous years.

We did make Brooklands, left at 3 pm, got to Shakey at 5 pm
Brooklands was the better show, Shakey was maybe 20% full on the Monday compared to the hot rod drags. Good if you wanted to get a lot of track time though. A tailwind was helping times on Monday
335 mile round trip, 1.75 tanks of fuel
